H.E.A.R.T. Used Curriculum/Book Sale
HEART's Used Curriculum/Book Sale will be held on Saturday, May 11th from 11 A.M.- 1:00 P.M @ First Baptist Church of Ocala in the Fellowship Hall.
On Friday, May 10th we will be accepting your used curriculum and other educational items from 2-3PM Drop off will be a little different this year. To help set up run more smoothly, we will have a couple of long tables set up with labels for each grade level. We are asking sellers to place their books at the appropriate grade level on these tables instead of just dropping boxes off. This will help our volunteers as they are organizing and setting up all the tables.
You will need white rectangular stickers (address labels, etc.). 1” x 2” is great if you can. On each label you will need the following information:
- Upper left corner - Grade level
- Upper right corner- Your seller number
- Middle of label- Price of item
Please place them on the upper right hand corner of each item you are selling. Be careful when writing your seller number on your labels, because if there is a mistake we won't know who gets the credit for the sale of your book. If you have books that are for more than one grade level, know that we will place that item on the table of the lowest grade level you put on the label. For example, K-3rd would go on the kindergarten table. 3rd-6th will go on the 3rd grade table. Here is the list of the categories of tables we will have:
- Pre-S (Preschool)
- Pre-K (Pre-Kindergarten)
- K
- 1st grade
- 2nd
- 3rd
- 4th
- 5th
- 6th
- 7th
- 8th
- 9th
- 10th
- 11th
- 12th
If your item covers a broad range of grades you can write one of the following categories listed below that best describes your item instead of a grade level.
- UNIT- Unit Studies
- READ - Readers
- REF- Reference
- REL- Religion
- COOK- Cooking
- MEDIA- (DVD’s, VHS, Cd-Roms, etc.)
- GAME- Games
- FOREIGN- Foreign Language Study
- FREE- For this table NO LABEL is needed. When dropping your items off, you might want to double check the ones that are not supposed to go on the FREE table to make sure they have a label. We will assume that any item without a label is to be placed on the FREE table.
We cannot guarantee that the box you bring your books in will be the same box you take your unsold items in, so please don't bring anything that you would like to get back. Because boxing up the unsold items is a huge task, the volunteers usually just grab the nearest box instead of trying to sift through a bunch of boxes to find the right one.
We want to remind everyone that when people come to shop at a USED book sale they are looking for USED book sale prices. Keeping your prices reasonable will boost your chances of selling your items. It is very understandable that is “hurts” to sell certain things for so much less than you paid. But it is better to sell your item for a few dollars less than what you really want then to not sell it at all because it was priced too high. Its just like when you go to a garage sale...you are looking for really great deals! If someone was charging $15 for a used DVD that you can purchase new for $19.99 you might not want to buy it. BUT if they were asking $5, you would most likely scoop it right up :-) Also, I look at it as blessing others. I don't know about you, but I LOVE finding something I am looking for at a book sale that is very inexpensive! I leave feeling blessed and thankful that I could get so much for so little money. We share the blessing by offering great prices and we also receive blessing in return.
It is a requirement that every seller signs a book sale agreement and brings it with them when they drop their books off. Anyone who does not have a signed agreement will NOT be able to sell their items.
Your unsold items will be available for pick up the day of the sale from 2-3 PM. Any unclaimed books will be donated to local charity organizations.
Do not hesitate to contact me if you have ANY questions at all. I appreciate you taking time to read all the details. All of the workers at the booksale are volunteers, so the instructions are to help make their job easier and for the sale to run as smoothly as possible. Many hands make light work. It’s a beautiful thing when we come together and do our part. Thank you to all of the volunteers who have offered to help serve our local community.
Please tell everyone you know about our book sale. We want to have as many shoppers as possible. Also, let your other homeschooling friends in other groups know they are welcome to sell their books at our sale too. If there is anyone you know who would like to sell items at our sale make sure they email me @ thankfulaz@gmail.com so I can give them a seller number.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions you have. Thank you in advance for your cooperation and help making our HEART book sale a success!
