Welcome to GraceLubbock Homeschool group! We are glad you found us. We are a homeschool group that continues to grow throughout each year. We have several opportunities for the homeschooling family, from classes to field trips. We offer something special for each member of your family, from birth to parent. We are an organized ministry co-op to homeschooling families of the South Plains. We are intellectually, spiritually and emotionally visioned at GRACELUBBOCK.
Currently, Grace classes for the Spring 2012 semester are closed. Please check back the first week of April for information about our Visitor Day and registration for the Fall 2012 semester. Below you will find detailed information about our group. Thank you for your interest in GRaceLubbock.
Information about our group:
Grace meets the first 3 Fridays of the month for classtime. On the fourth Friday of the month we take a field trip. After every class meeting and field trip, those interested, meet for fun lunch at a local park or in the winter, at a planned indoor facility (Jump N Jungle, Roll Arena, etc.).
We offer a Mom's Night Out on the 4th Monday of every month. In the fall we have a back to school party, Fall Family Fun Night (October), Christmas party for the kids and a Christmas party for the moms (both in December). In the spring we offer a moms retreat (February), talent show (April), field day (May) and standardized testing (April), for those interested. During the summer we offer various park days, a couple field trips and family camp.
On a "class" Friday, we meet from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Each student gets to attend 2 class periods. First period is from 9:30-10:30. Assembly time is from 10:30-11, and second period is from 11-12. Assembly time is when the whole group meets for pledge, prayer, announcements and class presentations. Each "period" is one class subject. Therefore, each student gets to choose 2 class subjects per semester.
Grace students are split into 5 categories: GRACEBABIES are toddlers, ages 2 and under. GRACEJR are kids ages 3 and 4. GRACEKIDS are students K-2nd grades. GRACEJV are students 3rd-5th grades. GRACEVARSITY are students grades 6th-12th. Each class is taught based on these age categories.
GRACE remains an affordable group to be involved with. Our fees are $55 per semester, per family (not student, you pay the same for 1 or 5 kids). Fees cover facility and supplies for the students. The director, board members, teachers and helpers are all volunteer moms/dads who have kids in the group, with occasional outside volunteers who are trained and often degreed in the subject area they are teaching.
GRACE is not a drop off program, but rather a group where you and your family can participate together. We do require one parent on campus during classtime, field trips and extra activities. We ask every mom to help in a classroom. Each classroom has 3 adults, a lead teacher, co-teacher and a helper. We want you to get a feel for how GRACE works and get to know as many people as you can before we put a new mom in a lead teaching position. We require a committed semester membership before a new member can lead teach. We ask that new members help in the classroom.
Our classes have a minimum of 5 students and a maximum of 25 students. Should you have any questions or would like more information, please feel free to contact us at gracelubbock@yahoo.com. In the meantime, welcome to GRACE and welcome to Lubbock, GRACELUBBOCK!
