FAQs

Q:

Where does Foundations of Faith Homeschool Ministry meet?

A:

Chattanooga 1st Seventh-day Adventist Church

Q:

What does it cost to join FFHM?

A:

A family membership is $25/year.  That includes access to the calendar of events outside class dates (unless registered and paid for those in addition to the family membership) and qualifies your family to group field trip rates (for which you are responsible).  Through July 31st there is an early bird registration discount of $5 making it $20/year.

Q:

I'm really busy with my child's schoolwork....may we only join you for field trips?

A:

Yes!  A family membership (yearly) allows access to the group rates on our field trip calendar and other non-class events.

Q:

Do I have to be Seventh-day Adventist to join?

A:

No!  We welcome any family who is interested in joining.  We are a Bible-based group with who believe God has called us to begin this ministry.

Q:

Do you have a Facebook page?

A:

Yes!  Find us at Foundations of Faith Homeschool Ministry .  You do not have to be a member of FFHM to be a part of our FB page.  Chasity,  Erinn, or Angela will ask you a few questions before we approve your membership request.

Q:

Are you associated with any organization?

A:

Yes, we are a ministry of the Chattanooga 1st Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Q:

May I drop off my child(ren) for classes and then return when meetings are over?

A:

No.  This is a cooperative.  There must be one responsible adult (grandparent, parent, aunt, nanny, etc) on site per family.  We all participate whether in one of the classes, setting-up, cleaning-up, helping with games, etc.

Q:

Is this a school?  Can we claim these as classes when we report our schoolwork?  Does FFHM report any of the classwork to the State?

A:

No, we are not a school nor do we give grades, take attendance or do any reporting.  If a parent wishes to include their child's class as part of their schoolwork, that is up to them.  We only offer extra curricular elective learning.

Q:

Is there any paperwork that must be filled out to join?

A:

Yes.  Through this site you will be prompted to fill out an information form for your family and children.  In addition, you will need to complete Verified Volunteers (please contact us for specific instructions).  It includes a background check and training to spot abuse.  It is all online and no one at FFHM, Chattanooga 1st or the Georgia Cumberland Conference of Seventh-day Adventists (the organization that oversees Chattanooga 1st) will see your information.  They only receive a report approving or denying your ability to be near children.  For leaders and teachers, we also have one more volunteer form that gives Chattanooga 1st your contact information (and name) in case they ever needed to contact you.

Q:

What about my non-school age child?  Do they just stay with me during my older child's class time?

A:

We also have a nursery and PreK program available.

Q:

Do you offer classes?

A:

Yes we do.  We meet twelve times a year, one morning every other week from 9:30-12:15.  The first class will meet from 9:30-10:25.  Then we will all gather together for an interactive Chapel time.  Our second class meets afterwards from approximately 11:20-12:15.

Q:

How do I pay?

A:

We accept checks (written out to Chattanooga 1st SDA Church) and cash.  You may send it to our FFHM treasurer, LaDonna Cloutier, 8795 Rocky Pond Trail, Ooltewah, TN 37363.

Who is FFHM'S leadership team?
