Mrs. Penny Nickels
My name is Penny Nickels and I am thrilled to be teaching First Grade this year at Beyond the Books. My husband, Steve, and I have three wonderful children, Josh, Tim and Julia. I have had the privilege of homeschooling all three of them over the last several years. The older two are now attending school, but I still home school our youngest. I love that homeschooling allows me to find her strengths and weaknesses, and gives me the freedom to choose curriculum that best suits her needs. I love that we can bring God into our daily schooling, as we learn about His marvelous world.
I have always had a passion for teaching. When I first moved to Waukesha twenty years ago, I was blessed to find a teaching position in a Christian school. I loved teaching those five years, but was incredibly blessed to be able to stay home once our first child was born. I have been involved with many youth programs in our church throughout the years, and love working with children. This will be my family’s seventh year at Beyond the Books, and each year has been an incredible blessing to us. I look forward to all the learning and fun that God has in store for our First Grade class this year!
Ms. Nikki Palmer
A bit more about Nikki: Nikki graduated from UWM with a 6-12 degree in mathematics education. Nikki taught at Menomonee Falls High School teaching all types of math courses. While there, she also headed up the Math Club. Nikki stopped teaching to stay home with her children and in between a couple of them she taught at UWM. Nikki currently homeschools her 4 children and has enjoyed tutoring students in math throughout. Nikki is excited to be back in a classroom setting at Beyond the Books! In her free time she enjoys playing board games, exploring God’s beautiful nature, and spending time with her family.
Mrs. Lisa Primrose
I am very excited to begin my 6th year of teaching kindergarten with Beyond the Books. The families and children here are exceptional and it has enriched my life to be part of the BTB community. My primary goal as a teacher is that my students will grow in their love for God and learning as a result of the positive, stimulating and fun environment they experience in our kindergarten class. It seems that I've been involved in teaching children ever since I stopped being one myself! My husband, Kent and I, have been married for 30 years. We have 4 daughters, two son in laws and two wonderful grandsons! We've been living in Waukesha for 17 years.
But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God. Acts 20:24
