Class Schedule & Teachers
SHE members are surveyed in November to determine which classes they would like to see offered during Activity Day the following year. At this time, we also ask parents what they are interested in teaching. When AD resumes in January, the Teacher Coordinator begins working to match teachers to the requested classes. The classes we are able to offer depend almost entirely on whether or not we can find parents willing to teach them. We do occasionally bring in an outside teacher if one is recommended for a class, and we can’t find a parent who is able to teach it. Parents may teach no more than two classes per year. The class schedule is typically published by the end of April.

Teacher Agreement
Anyone who commits to teaching must sign a Teacher Agreement before their class is added to the schedule. Teachers agree to respect the Christian focus of SHE by avoiding sensitive and controversial subjects, uphold all SHE and AD policy, and communicate with parents regarding class expectations and their child’s progress. In middle school or high school classes that are taken for credit, this includes written mid-term and final reports. Teachers also agree to copy parents on all communication with students.

Class Descriptions
Teachers must also submit a Class Description Form before their class is added to the schedule. This form is used to provide a detailed description of the class and to specify the grade level the class is for, the number of students that may register, the books and supplies needed, and all expenses related to the class. It is important that teachers provide a complete and accurate class description so that families have all the information they need to select classes. Teachers may also use this form to request particular class helpers, room assignments, and class times, but we cannot guarantee that all of these requests can be honored.

Class Registration
Class registration takes place on the SHE website and usually occurs during May. Please check the website calendar for specific dates. You can register your child for as few or as many classes as meets your particular family's needs. On the day class registration opens, start times are staggered based on the following four tiers.
  • Team Members
  • Teachers
  • Returning AD Participants (A returning participant is defined as someone who participated in AD the previous year.)
  • New AD Participants (A new participant is defined as someone who did not participate in AD the previous year, and includes both returning SHE members and new members.)
Families may access the registration page on the website until class payments are due. After that point, they will need to contact the Administrator to make changes to their class schedule. Changes can be made through the third week of classes, but teachers may choose whether or not to accept new students after classes begin.
