Meet the Heartland Homeschool Board

Stephanie Anderson currently serves as HHA President and also writes the HHA Newsletters. Stephanie and her husband, Shannon, have one daughter and have homeschooled her for 6 years. Stephanie is a former public school teacher and loves the opportunity to "teach for fun" at HHA. Currently, she and her husband are self-employed in the mental health field.

Melisa Barker joined the board in the spring of 2021. She lives in Jackson where she has most of her life with her husband Ryan and three children, Quentin, Kendal and Kenzie . She’s been homeschooling since 2013 and has been an Army wife for 17 years. Melisa loves spending free time outside and traveling and runs two businesses (one retail in Cape and one direct sales).

Julia Buchheit currently serves as the HHA Secretary and Bookkeeper. She lives in Perryville with her husband Darin and two daughters, Grace and Faith. She has been homeschooling since 2012. Her oldest is graduated and youngest is in high school. Julia is a stay-at-home mom who does bookkeeping, loves to crochet, read, craft, serve at church, and is a 4-H Club Leader.

Alexis Cox has recently joined the HHA Board.  Alexis is married to Stephen and they have a daughter named Aliza.  Alexis grew up in Illinois but has lived in Fredericktown for 10 years.  Although they've only been homeschooling for 2 years, they are excited to learn more as they go!  Alexis is a stay-at-home mom who enjoys spending time with family, crafting, and traveling.

Megan Wagner is the newest member of the HHA board, joining July 2021. Megan was born and raised in Southeast Missouri. She became licensed as a Clinical Social Worker in 2006 and has worked in the social work field for over 20 years. She and her husband own a small business that operates statewide serving individuals with developmental disabilities, including right here in Southeast Missouri. They have two children, ages 5 and 8, and began homeschooling them both since birth. They enjoy learning more about how to live a self-sufficient lifestyle and teaching their children how to grow their own food and utilize things in nature for many aspects of life. Megan's hobbies involve just about anything outside under the warm sun.
