Mr. Alejandro Lopez To All Instructors

Coach Alejandro Lopez was born in El Salvador, where he grew up playing soccer. Even as a young boy, a passion for the game grabbed hold of him. This passion and the support of his family helped him to make the U-17 National Team in El Salvador. After that life-changing experience, he had the opportunity to play as a professional for about three years through the local national league.

...But God had a different plan for him, and on September 23, 2001, he landed in Puerto Rico at the age of 21 years old, where he was able to study for a degree in Physical Education and become involved with YWAM, a Christian missionary organization, for 14 years. This experience allowed him to experience the culture and values of different nations in the world and developed deep in his heart a passion to serve children, youth and families, and lead them toward better opportunities in life.

During that time he discovered that soccer is a great tool to connect with people and influence them. He also realized the need to continually pursue education in order to be prepared, leading him to study through the years with different soccer institutions such as:

  • Brazilian Soccer Institute (Level 1 educator)
  • FIFA/ /Concacaf (Level C educator)
  • United Soccer Coaches Asociation (National Diploma)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education (Univ. del Turabo, P.R.)

As an educator and coach, Alejandro has had the opportunity to work with many ages, from U-4 to U-20, at the local and international levels. Most recently, prior to arriving in the USA, he served for three year as a Technical Director of a soccer club called Bairoa F.C. One of the most exciting and challenging opportunities came about two years ago with the invitation to join the Puerto Rico National Soccer Program as Assistant Coach of the U-15, U-17, U-20, and Adult Men’s National Team.

After living in Florida for three years and working at the club level, Alejandro decided to start the Sports for the Nations program with the intention of guiding, mentoring and nurturing athletes to help them reach their maximum potential as players and people, and especially to show who God is using soccer as a platform!

Alejandro has been very blessed with many good friends in the game, and he is thankful for the opportunity to join the Watermark Team and start reading a new chapter in God’s History line.
