Self-Defense Workshop
Join us for a full day self-defense workshop! This will be geared primarily for mature middle schoolers, high schoolers, and adults.
John Dvorachek will be instructing us in self defense. The workshop will include both discussion and physical activity (in pairs with similar body types). John says that self defense is a lifelong skill to be learned and practice over time, but we'll cover as much as we can in a day. He will also be providing all of the physical "props" needed to be safe (mats and the like).
A book that he recommend is The Gift of Fear https://a.co/d/gxLAAHX - you can read it before or after class, but he highly recommends it as a supplemental.
We will arrive at 11am, work with John, take a lunch break about 1pm (bring a picnic lunch for your family), then continue working until about 3-4pm. We will be doing the physical activity part outside, so bring lots of water. (Specifically from John - "We’ll do about two hours starting with a lecture/discussion and then introducing some physical skills. Then break for lunch around 1pm. After lunch we’ll go back to more physical skills work, and end with a Q&A around 3-4ish depending on attendance and discussion.")
John is a very experienced self defense instructor, even teaching full-year courses at colleges. We are lucky to get him!
IMPORTANT NOTE ON REGISTRATION
John has dropped his regular pricing to make this as accessible as possible for all families - the cost will be $40/person, with a max of $100/family.
- If you are registering 1-2 people, select "Individual - $0" under the "Family Price Option" and then add the attendee(s) and select "Individual - $40" under the "Individual Price Option."
- If you are registering 3+ people from your family, select "Family - $100" under the "Family Price Option" and then add the attendees and select "Family - $0" under the "Individual Price Option."
