Mrs. Kimberly Mattox To All Instructors

My name is Kim Mattox. I am a 59 yr old, SAHM with a special needs family. My husband, Rich, is mentally disabled. Our daughter, Mariah, is almost 18 and is autistic with ADHD, developmental delay and hearing loss in one ear. Both are highly functional, but need help with some things.

Mariah started out in public school, but by 2nd grade we had been told so many times that she was unteachable that I finally took her home and homeschooled her for the next 4 years. When she was in 6th grade, she chose to go back to public school and is now doing amazingly as a senior at Timberland High School in Wentzville.

I loved homeschooling her so much that I went back to school and got an Associates Degree in Early Education and Business Arts. I was working on a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education, just short my student teaching, when we moved here to MO from IL. Afterwards, I discovered that in order to get my BA in MO, I had to start all over. Since I am qualified to substitute teach here in MO and can homeschool without a degree, I chose not to do so. I worked for many years in Corporate America and then at home as a customer service rep while tutoring students from home. I also am a teacher on Outschool.com, a virtual school for kids age pre-k through high school.
