If you are a NEW family to HCS, you must first enroll with the school, complete an initial interview with the Principal, and pay all school enrollment fees BEFORE you may register for Academy classes.

Class Drop Policy:
All classes are offered as annual classes. Should a student drop on or before the 2nd class meeting, a refund will be issued from the teacher minus the materials/lab fee and a fee for the class(es) attended. After the 2nd class, the full 1st-semester payment will be retained by the teacher. Once a student has taken any class in the 2nd semester, there will be no refund given for any portion of the class fee.

The final drop date to receive any portion of the 1st-semester fee is August 27, 2024

Admin fees are payable to HCS.
Class fees are payable directly to the teacher.

Registration for any class assumes agreement to all HCS Policies as stated in the below Academy Parent/Student Handbook.

There is a NON-REFUNDABLE $75 per class Admin fee payable to HCS due within 30 days of class registration. You will be billed for this fee from the HCS office. Students whose Admin fee is outstanding after 30 days will be automatically removed from classes. You will need to re-register for those classes assuming there is still space available.

***Admin fees will not be refunded for any reason.***

As with all HCS services, parents will be required to sign up for volunteer hours. Each family must sign up for two volunteer slots per student enrolled in the Academy.

Important Dates to Note for the 2024-2025 School Year

March 15, 2024 - Re-enrollment and New Family Enrollment Opens
March 18 and April 1, 2024 - Open House for all Classes
April 15, 2024 - Meet and Greet - All Academy families strongly encouraged to attend
April 18, 2024 - Early registration for Lead Class Day or Academy teachers and all members of the HCS Leadership Team
April 19, 2024 - Registration for eligible existing HCS members
April 22, 2024 - Open Registration
August 12, 2024 - Mandatory Academy Orientation

August 27, 2024 - last day to drop for any partial refund of the 1st-semester class fee

January 13, 2025 - 1st day of 2nd semester for Academy - no refunds of the class fee after this date

The HCS Academy Orientation will take place at 10:00 am on Monday, August 12th, which is one week before the first class meeting. The orientation schedule is below. There are some important procedures and announcements to cover at this orientation. All students and at least one parent should plan to attend.

Emergency Exit plan 11:00-11:20 (meet in the MAC) - everyone should be present for this
3rd period 11:25-11:40
4th period 11:45 - 12:00

All parents and students, regardless of the number of classes/periods they are taking, should be present for the orientation from 10:00 - through the start of 3rd period. In other words, even if you only have a 1st or 2nd-period class, you must still be present for the Opening through the Emergency Exit plan. If you only have a 3rd or 4th-period class, you will need to be there beginning at 10:00 for the announcements and stay until your class meets. You will hang out in the MAC during the "off" periods.

To be clear:
Everyone needs to be there at 10:00.
If your only class is 1st period, you will need to stay until 11:20 (after the Emergency Exit plan)
If your last or only class is 2nd period, you will still arrive at 10:00 and will need to stay until 11:20
If your last or only class is 3rd period, you will still arrive at 10:00 and need to stay until 11:40 (after your 3rd-period class meets)
If your last or only class is 4th period, you will still arrive at 10:00 and stay until 12:00.

Parents and students will go to each class together for a brief overview from the teachers. Parents, if you have more than one student attending Academy, you can decide which classes to go to.
