Overview

Shanan is a homeschool cooperative that aims to embrace and support families, nurturing one another through a Christ-centered community. We serve parents and their children, from birth through 12th grade. We meet in Franklin, TN. Shanan is designed for families to attend and participate together - in a true cooperative spirit.

We begin our school day with “Connection Time” (CT) where we focus our hearts and minds on Jesus. CT includes any combination of the following: praise, devotion, a time of honor, a guest speaker, a student speaker, a class skit, and more. Immediately following, we have two morning class periods, followed by lunch hour, and then two subsequent afternoon classes. All moms teach two classes and remain on campus to use the alternate two class periods as “free time” for fellowship and building relationships with other moms.

We offer a variety of classes, both elective and academic, for students in Kindergarten through 12th grade. Classes differ from year to year based on the needs of our group and the subjects our moms are able to teach. We also provide childcare for babies-PreK children; however, families must have at least one student heading into Kindergarten in the upcoming school year (or older) to apply. Outside of these regular school days, we also hold many events and field trips open to the whole family throughout the year to build relationships within our community.

Yearly Fees include:

  • $200 New Family Registration Fee
  • $45 per Primary Student (birth-5th grade)
  • $95 per Middle School/High School Student (MSHS)
  • MSHS Retreat fee of $75 for 1 day and $135 for 2 days
  • Additional fees include class supplies fees. These range from $10-$250 per class, depending on which classes your student takes. Families are responsible for purchasing class textbooks or curriculum as requested by the teacher.

Applicants will only be considered for membership after an IN-PERSON visit during the current school year, or after an interview with board members should a visit during the school year not be possible.
