Women's Retreat
In his 1995 Letter to Women, Pope St. John Paul II expressed his sincere hope that every woman
carefully reflect on her “feminine genius”—the nature and mission unique to her womanhood.
This genius is integral to every woman’s personal call to holiness and fulfillment, but is also
critical for the positive transformation of our society and culture! In this retreat, we will work at
(re)discovering your feminine genius: especially in its essential aspects of receptivity, sensitivity,
generosity, and maternity. We will discuss how you can cherish and live your feminine genius no
matter your concrete situation: whether consecrated or lay, married or unmarried, in the home or
in the workplace. Finally, we will discuss the dangers and potential pitfalls that come with this
tremendous gift. My hope for the retreatants is threefold: (i) to affirm them in who they are, so
they will gratefully embrace their womanhood as God’s great gift; (ii) to encourage them to
cherish and nourish their womanhood, and so live it out as their personal path to holiness and
fulfillment; (iii) to inspire them to share the gift of their feminine genius with all they meet.
St. Catherine of Siena: “be who you are meant to be and you will set the world on fire”.
