Participation is up to the family; you can attend as many classes as you want. Our Powell location is a drop-off program; parents are not required to stay but being a class helper is encouraged and welcomed. You do not need to be a full-time homeschooling family to participate; you can be a part of a public-school hybrid learning program or virtual school. A parent or guardian MUST always accompany his/her children into the building and sign them in unless the child is 14 years or older. Parents are welcome and encouraged to help in various co-op classes that are taking place. Prompt pickup of children, when classes are finished, is required. If a student does not have a class during a particular period, a parent or guardian must be with the child. There should be no children unattended. Any adult who is staying on the premises is required to have a background check.

Fees and Refunds
Q: |
What are the fees for FLHE? |
A: |
Membership fee – this fee allows your family to be a part of our program for the current semester. The membership fee is $60 per family for general members and $30 per family for teachers. You will not be invoiced for the membership fee through our website until after you have registered for classes. Class fees – these fees are paid to the teachers (typically via Venmo) to cover all supplies and materials needed for each class. Please pay these fees as soon as your child(ren)’s schedule has been finalized so teachers can purchase all the necessary supplies. |
Q: |
What is your refund policy? |
A: |
You will not be invoiced for membership fees until you register for classes. Once classes begin there are no refunds for membership fees. There are no refunds for class (teacher) fees. |
About FLHE Classes
Q: |
Can co-op classes act as a replacement for teaching at home? |
A: |
Faith Life co-op classes are not a replacement for your academic homeschooling efforts and are supposed to only complement what you are teaching at home. There are some high school level classes that can help contribute towards a credit. Classes that have a credit possibility will be marked on the class description. Usually, a large amount of reading and homework will be required outside class time. Although some teachers give grades and feedback for projects and papers, you as the parent are the one who gives the final grades and makes sure all classes and work are creditworthy. |
Q: |
What type of classes do you offer? |
A: |
Typically, Faith Life Home Educators offer classes that involve fun, hands-on learning in a social setting. We lean toward choosing classes that homeschool parents can't (or don't want to) do at home. Messy art projects, science experiments, PE, dance, and singing groups are just a few of the classes that are regularly in our line-up. For a list of specific class descriptions for the current session, please see the current class schedule. We aim to have classes from preschool through high school each session at each location. |
Q: |
At home, my child is working above grade level. Can I put him in FLHE classes above his age group also? |
A: |
This is a very popular question because we have many bright homeschool students who are working above grade level. For FLHE purposes, however, we do ask that you enroll your child in classes according to his age/grade. In order to ensure space for all our families, we ask that you respect these guidelines. |
Q: |
Do we have to take classes for the entire co-op/enrichment day? |
A: |
You do not have to participate in classes all day long in order to participate in FLHE classes. You can take as many or as few classes as you desire. |
Registration
Q: |
How do I register? |
A: |
In order to register for classes, you first must be a member of each session. On the day and time of your sign-up: Login to your account. Click on “Class Registration” located on the left-hand side of your member homepage. Click on the class you want to register for, select the student(s) you want to sign up, click register. If you successfully registered, you will receive a pop-up confirmation message that says: “Your registration was successful” Continue this for all classes you want to register for. If a class gets full, a waitlist will be available. Plan for a 1st and 2nd choice of classes for your kids. If a class is full, add your child to the waitlist, then sign up for the 2nd choice. If you sign up on the waitlist and get into the original class you want, you can cancel the 2nd choice class. When you have finished registering, you can review all your classes by clicking “Manage Registrations” on the top right-hand side of the page and then clicking “Future Classes.” If you are at New Albany, you also have to sign up for a helper position---this also applies to teachers. This is done a week after regular student registration. If you signed up for one class/period, you teach/help in one class/period If you signed up for 2 or more classes, you teach/help in 2 classes. Click on the class that you, the adult, want to help in and register. ***ALL helper positions will be approved by Beth Morrison and are subject to change. *** New Albany Nursery: Nursery is open to any child 2 and under whose parent is teaching or helping in that period. There is no admin fee for this, but please sign up your child so we know how many kids will be in the nursery and can prepare accordingly. Even after registration ends, nothing has been finalized. So please don’t be discouraged if you have some waitlisted classes. There are class changes and cancellations that take place, and often teachers are able to add a few more students to their classes if they can get an additional helper. After registration closes, we will be working through the waitlist, which will take some time. We will be in touch with you if/when a class has an opening available.

Q: |
Can I register other children besides my own? |
A: |
Because each family is required to sign a waiver of liability, you may register only for children of which you are parent or legal guardian. If you choose to transport other families' children, they must register and pay separately, and you must fulfill their volunteer obligations in addition to your own. |
Other FAQs
Q: |
How do I know if classes are cancelled due to inclement weather? |
A: |
Delays, cancellations, and last-minute information are posted on THIS website. Faith Life Home Educators (FLHE): New Albany Weather Cancellation Policy Faith Life Home Educators New Albany will be monitoring the weather and following the New Albany-Plain Local School District for any cancellations. If the decision has been made that co-op will be canceled, a post will be made on this website with an email sent out to members. Please keep in mind that all our families live in different areas. We suggest using your best judgment when deciding whether to attend classes when it comes to the safety of your family. If FLHE is open but you make the decision not to attend co-op or delay your arrival, please notify us at flhe@faithlifechurch.org. We will not be following New Albany-Plain Local Schools 2 hr delays. Co-op starts later than school and in effect creates its own delay for better weather and road conditions. In the event that New Albany Schools close due to low temperatures, we will likely still have co-op. Again, always check your email regarding any cancellations before coming to co-op. Powell Location: Holly will be following Olentangy Local Schools for cancellations. Please see this website for any cancelation. |
Q: |
Can I drop my child off for co-op classes? |
A: |
New Albany Co-op is not a drop-off. Since our classes are taught by parent volunteers and helpers, everyones’ help is needed during co-op hours. Parents are required to stay on the premises. If you sign up for one class, you help/teach one class. If you sign up for two or more classes, you help/teach in two classes. Our Powell location is a drop-off. Children not enrolled in classes are to be with a parent at all times. Prompt pick-up of students from class is required and expected. |
Q: |
Do I need to volunteer during co-op? |
A: |
For the New Albany location, in keeping with the spirit of a cooperative, a parent from each participating family is expected to remain at co-op and serve in some capacity. If you sign up for one class, you help/teach in one class. If you sign up for two or more classes, you help/teach in two classes. The Powell location does not require a parent to volunteer, but it is appreciated. |
Q: |
What do I do if I have to miss a week of co-op? |
A: |
At the New Albany location, every parent fulfills a volunteer position each week. It is very important that you let us know if you need to miss co-op. Please find a replacement for the class you are a helper and email your child’s class teacher. |
Q: |
I'm not sure if I will be able to commit to co-op attendance, but right now I think I would like to participate. Should I go ahead and register to hold a place? |
A: |
Please do not register for co-op classes unless you are sure you would like to participate and are committed to regular attendance. |
Q: |
What is the sick policy for FLHE? |
A: |
- Nasal Discharge: Do not bring your child if his/her nasal discharge is yellow/green and/or has been coughing or sneezing. Clear discharge is up to your discretion, but please keep in mind that clear discharge may not always be allergies, it could be viral. You know your child, but please be respectful of others. - Fevers: Please be fever free for 24 hours if there are no other symptoms. If there were/are also other symptoms present along with a fever, please allow 48 hours to be fever free. Fever Free means NO help from medication like Tylenol or ibuprofen. - Sore Throat: If your child has a sore throat, especially nausea/vomiting, fever, red/swollen sores...please do not bring your child until they are feeling well for at least 24 hrs. If your child needs antibiotics, do not bring your child for at least 24 hrs. after the first dose. - Vomiting/Diarrhea: Please do not bring you or your child for 48 to 72 hrs. after their last vomit or diarrhea-- and your child must feel well. Please do not bring your child if they are not feeling well, even if the vomiting and/or diarrhea has subsided. Your child could still be ill and contagious. If you think that your child could have the stomach flu, we ask that the whole family stays home. - Hand Washing: Many illnesses can be contagious for up to two weeks--even if your child feels better. Please teach your child proper hand washing techniques: Scrub hands with warm, soapy water for a constant 30 seconds. You can sing the ABC's slowly. You can turn off the water with a paper towel. Hand washing is better at preventing illness than hand sanitizer. Wash your hands often. - Good rule of thumb: If anyone in your household is sick/contagious, do not come to co-op. If you or your child is feeling unwell or having symptoms of any kind, please be courteous and do not bring them. If we work together and are conservative in our thinking, we will have a much happier and healthier co-op for all! - If you are a teacher or helper and are sick, please find a substitute and let the location’s FLHE Administrator know who is covering for you. |
