FAQs

Q:

What is the St. Joseph the Worker Homeschool Group (SJWHG)?

A:

The St. Joseph the Worker Homeschool group is a support group of Catholic homeschooling families (and future homeschooling families) made up of parishioners and friends of the St. Joseph the Worker Traditional Latin Mass Parish in Tyler, Texas. We enthusiatically embrace the TLM and are faithful to the Church's Magisterium and Sacred Tradition.

We have monthly sponsored activities geared toward enriching the social, spiritual, and educational growth of mothers, children, and families in our membership. Our goal is to support one another in our endeavors to provide a robust Catholic home education for our children.

Q:

Who can join SJWHG?

A:

Parishoners and friends of St. Joseph the Worker are welcomed to apply to join the homeschool group.

Q:

What does this group offer?

A:

The St. Joseph the Worker homeschool group will offer: a monthly Mothers' Meeting, rotating quarterly liturgical, sporting, and educational events, weekly preschool events, retreats, etc. Our website is a new tool we are very excited about as it offers a private platform for communication, calendar, classifieds, forums, business directory, recordings of relevatnt talks, etc.

Q:

Are there other things I need to do to join the group?

A:

Yes! Part of our enrollment process includes signing the Code of Conduct, Creed, and Statement of Faith documents. This is non-negotiable from our pastor to join the group. You will be prompted to sign these during the enrollment process and for subsequent years while a member. You may also need to meet with a board member to finalize enrollment if you are new to the parish.

Q:

How much does it cost?

A:

The yearly enrollment cost is 25 dollars. Since we're beginning the homeschool group mid-semester (spring 2023), our first semester enrollment fee is 10 dollars--just to cover admin cost. In future, the yearly fee will be 25 dollars.

Q:

Who can I contact if I am (or another family is) interested in joining the group?

A:

Send them to our website, and they can start the process by clicking the "Join" tab.

Q:

I'm not Catholic; can I join?

A:

We are only open to active Catholic families. If you're on your journey into Catholicism or are considering Catholicism, please, contact our priest or a board member. We'd love to talk with you about your journey and how you can get involved!
