What is Compass?

A:

Compass Co-Op is a Lighthouse Learning Community that has two primary purposes: to foster community and to offer academic and enrichment classes by Lighthouse members for Lighthouse members.

Q:

Who can participate in Compass?

A:

Compass is for Lighthouse members only. In order to participate in this co-op you must:

1) be an active Lighthouse member and

2) have been a member for more than six months before you are eligible to register for classes.

When does Compass meet?

A:

Compass meets on Thursday afternoons at Faith Baptist Church in Youngsville, NC.

Classes are held from 12:30pm-4:00pm weekly. A typical Compass year runs from late August to early May with appropriate breaks built in.

What ages/grades does Compass provide classes for?

A:

Compass provides classes for Kindergarten through 12th grade.

Our classes are grouped as follows:

  • Childcare for ages 6 months to 5 years (divided into two groups)
  • Kindergarten Class (max # of students is 12)
  • 1st & 2nd Grade Classes (max # of students is 14)
  • 3rd - 5th Grade Classes (max # students is 16)
  • Middle School Classes (max # of students is 20)
  • High School Classes (max # of students is 20)

How do I sign up for Compass?

A:

We are glad you asked!

Registration for Compass classes is held every spring for the following school year. Lighthouse members can stay informed on specific dates and times via the email loop and the Lighthouse Members facebook page. Ample notice is given prior to registration each year.

Current Compass families and Compass teachers register first. After that registration period, remaining spots are offered to current Lighthouse members (who have been a member for more than 6 months). The Compass Registration Coordinator will communicate and facilitate registration.

What are the fees for Compass?

A:

It is our desire to keep Compass class fees affordable for every Lighthouse member. Compass fees are as follows:

Compass Community Fee is $50/family. This fee is due yearly upon delcaring your intent to return/participate in the co-op. This is a non-refundable fee.
