Statements of Purpose & Faith
Welcome!
Thank you for your interest in Sonshine Christian Academy. We are a parent led homeschool support group that has offered assistance to homeschool families for over 44 years. We require every family to help with an event or weekly at co-op and also require the parent(s) to stay during co-op and events. There is not a drop-off option. We require a statement of faith be signed by all families joining the group. You may view our statement of faith here: https://www.homeschool-life.com/396/custom/14035 .
We have a parent taught co-op on Thursdays from 10-3:00p. Group prayer followed by announcements begin at 9:45am and post co-op, clean up ends at 3:30p. Our co-op classes runs September through April (with December off) for pre K thru 12th grade. We have a new location this year in Port Saint Lucie. Our co-op classes usually are grouped in the following categories: preschool/pre-k, k-5th (elementary), 6th-8th (middle school),and 9th-12th (highschool).
Membership to the group is currently $100 per family for the academic year and opens in July. Classes are organized and announced in July as well and sign up follows. The class costs are determined by the teachers prior to sign ups, and cover just the cost of supplies, the teachers do not make money from the classes. Most classes are between $5-50 a year each.
In addition to co-op we offer field trips, holiday parties, community service opportunities, teen events, talent show, International night, and other get togethers, as well as an end of the year graduation and a group yearbook. You can see our public calendar here: https://www.homeschool-life.com/396/events/. We do not provide specific details on the public calendar for the safety of our members.

Statement of Faith
We believe that the Bible is the inspired and infallible Word of God. The Bible is without error in whole and in part. “All scripture is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness.”
2 Timothy 3:16
We also believe in the Trinity (the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit), and that Jesus Christ was God come in human flesh, being fully God and fully man, except without sin.
John 1:1, Philippians 2:6-8, 1 John 3:5
Sin has separated all people from God. That relationship is restored by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ. God in His mercy saves us by Jesus Christ’s atoning sacrifice and resurrection.
Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23, Ephesians 2:8-9
Salvation is offered as a free gift to the sinner. This gift must be individually responded to in faith, not trusting in any personal works whatsoever, but in the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ alone. Jesus Christ’s death paid the penalty for our sin.
Romans 6:23, Acts 16:30-31, Titus 3:5, 1 Corinthians 15:3, Romans 5:6-8
We must personally receive Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord: “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believed in His name.”
John 1:12, Revelation 3:20
