What type of program is The Grove Christian Academy? |
A: |
The Grove is a one day per week Christian high school drop off program for home educated students wanting to take live in-person classes outside the home. Our goal is to provide comprehensive interesting classes that meet the high school requirements for the state of Arizona. The Grove is not a school but is a learning/tutoring facility. |

What is the benefit of being a student at The Grove Christian Academy? |

While other programs require multi-day attendance or only meet online, The Grove is designed to meet the needs of your student by offering live in person instruction, while conveniently only attending these classes one day per week. Our talented instructors enjoy the subjects they are teaching and will engage with the students during class time. They will give assignments for the week and are available to answer questions throughout the week if needed by your student. Instructors will also grade and test students and give them a recommended grade at the end of the year. Students will enjoy making new friends in their classes and learning to work together in teams. The Grove Students have the opportunity to participate in monthly social and cultural activities. The Grove students are invited to attend the Branches Fall Formal and will receive special prices for the AZ Homeschool Prom. The Grove is an ALPHA group for Grand Canyon University, and The Grove students will automatically receive the ALPHA scholarship which is $1000 a year. |

Does The Grove Christian Academy accept ESA? |

Yes! The Grove is a very ESA friendly program. Payments for classes and fees can be made via the ESA debit card or families can pay and submit for reimbursement. Class payments are due conveniently after each quarter's funds are distributed. Families who are apart of The Grove will receive the accreditation attestation form that will be submitted with reimbursement requests and debit card purchases. Invoices are available on the website and can be sorted by student, date, and payment type, to screen shot and send into the Department of Education. |

What ages can participate in The Grove Christian Academy? |

The Grove is designed for High School aged students 14 years and older. If you have a younger advanced student, please contact us to see if this program is a good fit. |

Are there any parent involvement or volunteer requirements? |
A: |
No. Parents are not required to be involved in The Grove. However, we love parents and always welcome any involvement. This could include checking in students, monitoring the parking lot, blessing teachers with goodies, bringing birthday treats, helping with holiday parties, or possibly being a substitute if an instructor is absent. |

Is this a “dropoff" program? |
A: |
Yes. Parents can drop off their student for their classes and pick them up at the end of the day. Students who are not in a class at a specific time must be signed up for study hall until their next class. Students can also drive themselves, but again may not leave until their last class is finished. |

Does my student have to be a Christian to attend? |
A: |
No they do not. However, the instructors are all Christians and all classes will be taught from a Biblical World View. |

How do students get the books and/or curriculum needed for each class? |
A: |
Instructors will provide a list of needed items for each class including specific curriculum, notebooks, supplies, etc. |

How can I sign my student up for classes at The Grove Christian Academy? |

You can apply by clicking on the link on the front page of the website. After you are accepted you will be invoiced for the family application fee and the per student registration fee. Once those invoices are paid, you can register yourself for classes for your student by clicking on the class matrix link. All classes have a deposit and are invoiced quartery to match the ESA funding schedule. |

No. The Grove is a tutoring/learning facility that provides classes to home educated students. |
Student Related

What does my student do if they have a gap between classes? For example they are taking a class period one and period three? |
A: |
All students, while on campus, must either be in a registered class or study hall each hour (which is a "class" that can be signed up for). Students may not leave the campus until their last class is finished. |

Can my student leave during the day to pick up lunch or coffee? |
A: |
Students are required to stay on campus for the entire time that they are registered for classes. As soon as they are done with their last class, they can leave campus. Please plan accordingly and have your student bring a sack lunch, coffee, or any other food or drink item they may need. Once a month we will have a pizza party! Please see our calendar to sign up and pay for pizza. There is a beverage machine on campus and students are welcome to purchase drinks from it. |

What is the dress code at The Grove? |

Students are required to wear The Grove Christian Academy uniform. This simple uniform is linked under details on the website and includes specific embroidered polo shirts, black skirts, black shorts, or black pants of your choice (including black denim without rips). |

Are there any required biblical studies classes? |

What are the typical class sizes? |

The class sizes range based on demand, but typically range from 4 to 20 students. |

What if my student needs extra tutoring? |

Students (or parents) can talk with teachers and staff if there students needs extra tutoring. |

Will the teachers be available outside of class time for questions? |
A: |
Yes, each teacher will notify students of time they are available outside of class time. |
Graduation Requirement Related

Do these classes count for high school credit for the students official transcript? |
A: |
As a parent, homeschooling a child, it is up to you to decide what classes count for high school credit. High School transcripts for homeschool students are created by the parent. There are examples that can be found online. |

Do the instructors give the students grades for each class? |
A: |
Yes, the instructors do give out recommended grades in most classes. It is up to the parent to accept the grade given, and place the class and grade on the student's transcript. As a parent of a home educated student, you track your child's grades, records, and create a transcript. |
Payment Related

What is the cancellation and refund policy for The Grove Christian Academy? |
A: |
Unfortunately we are not able to refunds for any payments as the money received quickly goes out to pay for instructors, rent, insurance, and administrative fees. However, if a class is not a good fit for your student, you can cancel and are not obligated to continue to pay. |

When are fees and class payments due? |
A: |
At the time of application and acceptance, the $50 application fee per family, and the per student $150 registration fees are due. The first quarter class fee is due immediately when registering along with lab fees and certain supply fees. The remaining fee is divided into three additional payments. You can pay up front or throughout the year when the payments are due. |
