FAQs

Q:

Do I need to take a full day of classes?

A:

No, you are free to take as many or as few classes as you wish.

Q:

Is there a place on campus for my kids to go if they do not take classes during a certain period?

A:

Yes, we have what we call "The Hub"  where students hang out if they do not have another class during a certain period.  You will need to register for "The Hub" as a class. This is located at the bottom of the Class Schedule. Students can hang out with friends, complete classwork, read or play board/card games.  Classes are held adjacent to "The Hub", so we request that students be mindful of activity and noise levels. This area is monitored by an Adult and attendance will be taken.

Q:

Do I need to stay on campus with my kids or may I drop them off?

A:

Parents are required to sign in students when they arrive on campus and to sign them out when they leave. We encourage parents to stay on campus, but it is not required.  Because this is a co-operative, all parents are required to volunteer in some capacity.  This can include serving as a Teaching Assistant, Clean Up Crew member, etc.  If you are not able to be on campus on Tuesdays, there are some volunteer jobs which can be done off-campus.

Q:

Do you offer any classes for high school credit?

A:

Yes, please check the schedule for applicable classes.  Teachers will issue grades for the classes but it is the responsibility of each student's family to document the credits, save samples of work for the high school portfolio, and determine the appropriate requirements for the county or umbrella school.

Q:

Do you offer any classes for adults?

A:

Yes!  We have had several parents take guitar classes, art classes, etc., alongside their kids.  Classes which are listed to include "13th grade"  mean that adults are welcome to register.

Q:

What are mini-classes?

A:

Mini-classes are a variety of classes which meet for a set number of weeks.  Mini-classes provide a nice opportunity to sample a certain subject without having to commit to a whole year.  If time or finances are limited, mini-classes provide a nice way for kids to benefit from being part of a co-op.  Mini-classes are paid up front during registration.  See the class schedule for current mini-classes.

Q:

How much are your registration fees?

A:

Registration fees are $75/year for one student and $100/year for two or more students.  These fees cover the co-op required insurance policy and church usage fees as well as other administrative fees, including background checks for adults who will be on campus.

Q:

We have previously attended co-op but now have a 'new' child to  register at co-op. How do we go about it?

A:

If you have previously taken classes at LCHA but you are now enrolling a new child who has not taken classes before, you will not be able to register them for classes until you add them to your "family roster".

At the very top of the Home Page is a Profile tab. Click it and you can update any family information that has changed, including adding any new children who will be attending LCHA.
