Welcome! We're so glad you're here! Rising Roots is a very special community of homeschooling families. Take some time to read our Philosphy - this is the best way to get a feel for who we are! If you would like more information or have any questions please email contact@risingroots.org
Our Philosophy
Rising Roots seeks to create a safe, supportive, and open space for homeschool families of all backgrounds. We are committed to the principles of inclusion while honoring the great need for support through the singular experience of homeschooling our children.
Rising Roots is expressly open to and welcoming of individuals regardless of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, disability, marital status, citizenship, national origin or genetic information.
In this Co-Op we believe that Black Lives Matter and that LGBTQ+ rights are human rights. We pledge to see and honor each other’s differences while taking the time to learn the world outside of our own, realizing that the experiences of others are valid and real.
Rising Roots Secular Homeschool Cooperative was created in 2021 when we saw the need for a secular homeschool co-op in the Lehigh Valley. We aim to be a safe place for religious and non-religious families alike.

Who are the teachers? We are all the teachers! We are a parent lead co-op all on this journey together. Our diverse group of parents and teachers bring what they love to our classrooms. Many of them hold degrees in Education, Psychology, Library Science, and Child Development, but not all of them. We boast of our esteemed college professors, published authors, and artists of all kinds. On paper, this all sounds great. More importantly our teachers lead with kindness and teach empathy. We are building the next generation of leaders.
Are there planned activities and field trips outside of the weekly co-op day? Yes! We have a dedicated Community Coordinator and team who plan lots of fun field trips and activities throughout the program year. In the past we have visited the Schisler Museum and Planetarium, Miller Symphony Hall, Mazezilla and Crystal Cave to name a few. During the Summer, we get together for informal park and playground meet-ups
What types of activities do we have besides classes on co-op day? On Co-op Day, we kick things off with the Morning Mingle—an opportunity for students and adults to socialize, play games, or enjoy a cup of coffee before classes begin. After lunch, we have BERT time, which stands for Belonging, Engagement, Respect, and Togetherness. During BERT, we host special AMA guests (like the amazing drag queen who visited this past fall), organize activities (such as café time, games, or celebrations for special occasions), or simply hang out with friends.
