Dr. Christa Olson To All Instructors

Christa's teaching days started early; as the oldest child, she taught and mentored her brothers and sisters in play and in real life. Christa is passionate about education, after earning a Bachelor's degree in Social Work, she went on to earn a Master's in Criminal Justice and a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Central Florida. To Christa, earning a Ph.D. was not the end of learning but a new chapter.

Christa also has an extensive teaching background with experience teaching classes from preschool through college in various settings, from churches to public schools to homeschool classes to university. She uses a hands-on approach in much of her teaching. Before earning her Ph.D., Christa taught preschool at a local church and middle school science and mathematics at a public school. It was while teaching in the public school setting that Christa realized that when she had children, she wanted to educate them through homeschool. As a lifelong learner, she continues to learn right along with her children and students.

After teaching at a university in Massachusetts, she returned home to Florida to spend more time with her extended family and to do church work.

Most often you can find Christa out in nature with her children, where she is inspired and wowed by the beautiful and amazing things God has created in the world -- whether plants, animals, insects or people.
