Field trips are planned throughout the year to keep the students involved in their communities, and to enjoy the many varieties of fun learning around us.? We keep the costs down, so many field trips are free or low cost. After joining, you may browse the calendar and sign up for field trips as they are available. Past field trips have included visiting petting zoos, berry picking, Sea World, Dinosaur World, The Florida History Center, the Raymond James Stadium, behind the scenes at Publix, nature walks, Cracker Country, the Alafia Rendezvous, just to name a few.
We are always on the lookout for new field trip options and encourage input/suggestions from our families!
Book clubs are broken into age groups, similar to the classes, so children can enjoy reading, studying, and discussing books with their peers.? These clubs meet five times, intermittently, during the year. Both the junior high and the high school book clubs are student led, giving students an opportunity to develop leadership skills. These groups are always monitored by an adult, and all book choices are approved by adult leaders ahead of time. Specific books for each club are viewable for members.
Book clubs typically include a period of discussion, a fun activity related to the book, and a snack, also related to the book.
High school students can count the books toward part of their literature credit each year.

Classes are extra-curricular and specific classes vary each year. Past classes have included art, music, chess, fun science, group PE activities, running, nature-based activities, storytelling, creative writing, cooking around the world, and many more subjects. We have a total of 8 class days during the school year (4 in the fall and 4 in the spring), culminating in a Spring Showcase, when all classes can present what they have learned through the year.
Classes are divided into age groups, starting with 3-4 year olds, 5-7 year olds, 8-10 year olds, then 11 and up. Classes typically fill up quickly at the beginning of the year. If there is not space, you may join a waiting list for some classes. Scroll to the bottom of this page to see our class offerings for this year. Park Facilities
We are meeting at a Park in Temple Terrace each Friday at 9:30 am with the exception of the weeks we have field trips planned. Activities and classes always begin at 10:00, but we encourage everyone to meet at 9:30 so we are prepared to start at 10:00.
Lettuce Lake is a fully serviced park with restrooms, Bonnie Brae Park does not have restrooms, and sometimes the restrooms at Ridgedale Park are locked. Please plan accordingly.
We do not have an alternate facility for use in poor weather conditions. If you feel the weather is too extreme for your family, stay home. If it’s just a little rainy, a little hot, or a little cold, most of us will still be at the park.
