The Alamo Field Trip
When: Friday, June 3rd
Time: Meet at 11AM
Our timed entry for the Alamo Church is at 12PM.
Cost: $5 per person
We will be doing the Victory or Death™ Audio Tour. "This 45 minute, rich audio production truly brings the story of the Alamo to life, featuring sound effects, music and interviews with the Alamo's expert curators and historians. Available in English, Spanish, French, German and Japanese." This audio tour includes entry to the Alamo Exhibit. "The Alamo: A Story Bigger Than Texas" exhibit showcases the 300 year history of the site through highlights from the Alamo and Phil Collins Texana Collections. These are unique artifacts that you won't see anywhere else.
After that we are welcome to explore the grounds at our own pace.
There is a Musket Firing Demonstration at 11:30AM and 2PM in the Alamo Plaza. So we can arrive early and see that, or see it after our tour. **Hearing muskets fire is an incredible experience, but it is very loud and the sound can upset young children.**
The Living History Encampment is also open. "Enjoy hands-on demonstrations about daily life at the time of the Texas Revolution. Discover what people wore, how they looked after their health, and what essential skills they had to master, such as fire-starting, leather working, and how to take care of their firearms."
You can spend as much time in each area as you like once the timed portion of the field trip is over. The Alamo Grounds close at 7PM.
Some families will be meeting for dinner at the nearby Rainforest Cafe at a prearranged TBD time as well.
