Join the Sunshine State Homeschoolers for a dance party for homeschoolers ages 5-10. We will have a night of fun, music, and dancing! The theme is Carnival!!

*This is not a drop off event. Parents should expect to stay with their homeschooler and help during the event. Parents are also asked to help clean up after the event. Helping in this way allows us to keep our events as low cost as possible.*

When arriving at the venue, make sure you park in the parking lot and enter the venue through the front entrance with your homeschooler. One parent from each family must stay with their homeschoolers at the event to help chaperone. Parents are also needed to help clean up after. However, parents can add an "opt out" fee and be present during the party only (4:00-6:30) and not help with clean up. Each parent will be provided with a nametag upon arrival. One parent per family is free. Additional parents staying will be $20 each. We will have a sign in and out sheet for all attendees. Homeschoolers will not be permitted to leave without their parent.
This will be a night full of friends and fun, music, dancing, snacks, etc.!!
Tickets purchased in advance will be $20 each (one homeschooler + one parent [free]). Each additional homeschooler is $20. Homeschoolers paying to attend the event may choose to invite friends. Please feel free to share the signup form so that your friends’ parents can complete the form and purchase their ticket(s). Advanced ticket sales will continue until March 1st or space is no longer available. All tickets are nonrefundable and nonexchangeable. The dance is on March 23.
Who can attend?
Homeschoolers ages 5-10 can attend this dance. Younger children cannot attend this event due to safety reasons. This event may be cross listed in various homeschool groups if space permits us to invite other homeschoolers. Chaperones will be present throughout the entire evening. Limited tickets are available due to space capacity limits at our chosen venue. Make sure you register online and pay for your ticket early! One parent from each family must attend the event to help chaperone the event and watch their children. This is not a drop off event.
What kind of food will be served?
Each parent must bring at least one food item to share with the homeschoolers at the event. The cost for food is not included in the cost for tickets. Snack assignments are listed below. Snacks should be individually wrapped, store bought snacks. Make sure to avoid snacks with nuts due to allergies. No outside food or drink is allowed in the venue unless medically necessary due to dietary needs (contact us in advance please).
· Parents whose last names begin with A-G: bring either (1) 18 count cookies, (2) one twelve pack of cupcakes, OR (3) a variety pack of individually wrapped chips.
· Parents whose last names begin with H-N: bring either (1) one pack of bottled water (24 count), (2) one pack of cans or bottles of uncaffeinated soda (12 pack), OR (3) two packs of juice boxes. There is no need to bring ice as it is provided for us.
· Parents whose last names begin with O-Z: bring one cheese pizza (from Little Caesar’s, for instance).
**You do not need to bring enough snacks/drinks for all homeschoolers. If we all bring just a little, it will make a lot. Thank you in advance for your food donation for the teens!
What kind of music will be played?
Our DJ will play current popular music will be played during the party. All songs selected will be clean versions of songs. No songs with vulgar language or explicit content will be played.
Is there a dress code?
Homeschoolers can choose to dress up or dress casually. Dress and appearance at the party is the responsibility of the parents. Please use sound judgement to ensure attire is not offensive or inappropriate. Excessively loose or bulky clothing should be avoided. Jackets/coverings should be held in hand during check-in.
What about personal belongings? Parents are responsible for their personal belongings they have brought to the venue (purses, bags, sweaters, books, etc.), all bags will be checked before entry. Note that we reserve the right to casually search belongings, if needed for safety and security reasons.
What types of behaviors are prohibited? All parents and homeschoolers at the event must follow the guidelines of the Sunshine State Homeschoolers at all times. No bullying at all will be allowed. We strive for an environment where all are safe, accepted for who they are, and included in all activities. No destructive behavior of any kind is allowed. Bullying or destructive behavior will result in an immediate removal from the dance/party. Removal or damage of decorations, games, etc. for the event is prohibited and will result in immediate removal from the venue. If a homeschooler is asked to leave the party for these reasons, no refund of ticket purchase will be provided. Our guidelines regarding safety, diversity, and inclusivity apply to all attending the event.
Member Site
To help us streamline everything that we organize for our homeschoolers, Sunshine has a member site. The cost for the member site is $45 a year. Joining the site allows reduced cost for events to site members and priority registration for events.
