FAQs

Q:

What is CREDO?

A:

CREDO is a co-op of homeschooling families that meets one afternoon a week for 12 weeks each semester during the school year. We offer fun and educational classes for kids and teens.

This is an Ecumenical Christian Organization, run according to Christian principles. We welcome all families! We encourage the God given talents and abilities of our families. Always striving to give our best in Spirit and in Truth.
“Show yourself in all respects to be a model of good works, and in your teaching show integrity, dignity.” Titus 2:7

Q:

Where does CREDO meet?

A:

Currently, our co-op meets at Emmanuel Baptist Church on Buncombe Rd in Shreveport, LA.

Q:

When does CREDO meet?

A:

We meet on Wednesday afternoons from 12:45 (check-in time)-4:20pm. We have 12 class days in the Fall and 12 class days in the Spring. Registration is done just before the beginning of each semester and you will be contacted by e-mail if there is space available for your family.

Q:

What can my child expect to do there?

A:

Each afternoon, we meet together at 1:00 for our opening session. We then disperse to our age-divided classes. The kids enjoy two classes, then a recess/snack break, and then a third class before we conclude for the day.

Q:

Can I drop my child off for the afternoon?

A:

No, CREDO is NOT a drop-off co-op. We ask that a parent stay on campus during class hours. Because we are a “cooperative” of families, we also ask that each parent either teach one class and assist in a second class, or assist in two classes. Typically, every mom will also have a “free hour” during the afternoon.

Q:

What does CREDO cost?

A:

Fees vary for each student depending on the classes they take. Our parent-teachers do not get paid for teaching. They only collect enough money from each student to cover any supplies they need. Class fees vary from $0 to $30 per child / per class. In addition to Class Supply fees, we have two other fees that are collected in August and January, which consist of a $20 per family Administration fee and a $30 per family Church Donation fee. We also have two fees that are only collected annually: Insurance, which runs approximately $10 per person and a Website fee $11 per family

Q:

Is there a minimum age for my child to join CREDO?

A:

We ask that your family have at least one school-aged child, age 6 or older, before you join our co-op. We do offer nursery for babies and a fun class for preschoolers, but our focus is school-aged kids and teens.

Q:

Do you offer field trips and socials?

A:

Yes, we do! Our kids make great memories each year with field trips to places like the Dixie Corn Maze, Papa Simpson's, Plantations and more. We also have parties, park days, and fun activities (like our flash light Easter egg hunt and our Spring Formal) scheduled for the different age groups throughout the year. We also have a great showcase at the end of each semester where our drama classes, choirs, cheer class, etc show the families what they've been working so hard on during the semester.

Q:

Can we opt out of the co-op but still do the field trips, etc?

A:

No. We are first and foremost a weekly co-op and any field trips and socials are typically for our co-op members only.

Q:

Do I have to sign a statement of faith to join CREDO?

A:

No, we do not limit membership based on religion.

Q:

I still have questions. How can I get more information?

A:

You can send an email to credohomeschoolinfo@gmail.com.
