FAQs

Q:

What is the goal of the DVCLC?

A:

It is our desire to help our children discover the many hidden treasures within themselves and also in their peers by lovingly providing a creative learning environment where they can have abundant opportunities to enjoy personal as well as public success.

Q:

Is this a religious group?

A:

Many of our members share a love for God and Christian faith, however, we believe that everyone has a place in our learning environment.

Q:

When does co-op start?

A:

We have three 6-week sessions. Please see the Registration FAQ (link located on the toolbar) for exact dates

Session One:  Fall Session September-October

Session Two:  Winter Session January-February

Session Three:  Spring Session April-May

Q:

When does DVCLC meet?

A:

Fridays from 9:30am-2:30pm. We are a parent led program and parents are required to volunteer in some manner. Parents are to remain on-site while their students are participating in classes and activities at DVCLC.

Q:

What are the age groups?

A:

Lower Elementary (K-2nd)

Upper Elementary (3rd-5th)

Middle School (6th-8th)

High School (9th-12th)

Q:

What does it cost?

A:

These funds help pay for insurance, rent, and website costs.

The following costs are for the full day of co-op, for an 6-week session.

The session fee is based on family size.  Only children ages 5 and up count toward family size; nursery/preschool (ages 0-4) is free:

1 student – $40

2 students age – $60

3 students – $80

4 students – $95

5 or more students – $105

Some classes that require a lot of supplies have additional fees. These are noted up front when registering.

Please note: the teacher discount has been paused.

Q:

Can I use my Charter School funds to pay for DVCLC fees?

A:

DVCLC is a non-profit group and is not affiliated with any charter school and cannot accept Charter School funds, however school funds may be used toward approved vendor taught classes.

Q:

Can I drop my student off?

A:

Due to California licensing regulations and liability issues, we require that a parent or guardian be on campus AT ALL TIMES for every student and child that is in attendance.  Some exceptions can be made, on occasion. Please speak with a Board Member about these exceptions. Board Member approval will be required.

If a student is brought to co-op by a family member, other than their parent, a medical release waiver (found on the website under “forms”) will need to be filled out ahead of time by the parent and signed, giving permission for that person to bring their student to co-op. That designated relative will need to remain on site with the student the entire time and may need to full fill some of the parents volunteer responsibilities unless other arrangements were made with a fellow DVCLC participant.

Q:

How can I participate?  Do I have to teach?

A:

We really do depend on each other to ensure the success of our co-op. Every parent participates. If you’re not quite ready to teach, we have plenty other opportunities for you to pitch in. You will sign up for your volunteer positions at the time of registration.

Q:

Do we have to stay all day?

A:

Our kids take as many as three classes during the co-op day, but they are not required to attend the full day.

Q:

How do I register?

A:
