FAQs

Q:

When and where do you meet?

A:

We meet on Tuesdays for 30 weeks each school year (three trimesters of 10 weeks), usually beginning the end of August and ending in late April at Tri-County Baptist Church, 8195 Beckett Road, West Chester, Ohio 45069.

Our day runs from 8:45-12:00 for those participating in a.m. only classes OR 8:45-2:35 for those participating all day. Some of our classes are year-long and others change with each trimester.

Q:

What grades do you accommodate?

A:

  • Nursery
  • Preschool (3's & 4's)
  • Kindergarten
  • 1st/2nd grade
  • 3rd/4th grade
  • 5th/6th grade
  • 7th-12th grade

Q:

Can Veritas help me homeschool my junior high/high school student?

A:

  • Absolutely! We have a strong upper level program that offers Apologia and Abeka Sciences as well as IEW writing and Literature programs. God has blessed us with amazing "moms" who are also very talented. We also offer a myriad of elective courses in history, Bible, computer, art, etc. Some classes will fill in the blanks on a transcript and others are just for fun.

Q:

How much is tuition?

A:

$120 per family, per trimester for the three morning classes. You may stay for lunch and an additional 2 classes for an extra $15 per family, totaling $135 per trimester, per family for 5 classes. Some classes have additional fees (ie, lab fees for science classes).

Q:

What size is your co-op?

A:

We currently have around 48 families participating and 125 children from nursery to 12th grade. There are around 50 students enrolled in grades 7-12th.

Q:

What is my job as a Veritas member?

A:

An adult member from each family is required to volunteer each week. Two hours of service are required in the AM for all members, and two hours of service are required in the PM, for those staying all day. This may include being a lead teacher, substitute, aid or helper. Additionally, you may be required to work a dismissal or lunch duty. Veritas is a cooperative effort; no free hours will be guaranteed, although we try to give one free hour each week. The adult member must remain on the property at all times.

Q:

Do you offer testing or evaluation services?

A:

We do offer a very experienced, knowledgeable certified teacher/evaluator for our families during co-op hours every April to help with school district notification of intent. We currently do not offer testing services.

Q:

Can I drop my child off?

A:

No. Our co-op is a true partnership of parents offering their time and talents in exchange for the time and talents of others. Therefore, every student must have a "working" parent/guardian on site at all times.

Q:

Can I join Veritas if I am a member of a virtual academy?

A:

No. We do not accept members who are currently enrolled in public or private virtual academies. Members must personally notify the local superintendent of their intent to homeschool per Ohio Admin. Code § 3301-34-03(A). Our policy coincides with HSLDA's stance. For more information see www.hslda.org.

Q:

Does Veritas offer other activities outside of regular Co-op hours?

A:

Yes, we offer a variety of member-led activities outside of regular Co-op days. Some of these include, but are not limited to field trips, spelling bee, field day, art contest, writing contest, jr. high/high school activities, Swap Day, Mom’s Night Out, Kindergarten/8th grade/High School Graduation, etc. The scheduling of outside activities each year is dependent on volunteers willing to lead and coordinate the events.

Q:

How do I join Veritas?

A:

All serious inquiries start by filling out an application.  You can fill out our Application form here: Application Form.  We bring families in for interviews starting in January.  New membership is extended based on our teacher needs and then space available for students.
