No, JUBILEE is not a co-op. JUBILEE is a unique group in that we are a support group and not a co-op, which means the focus stays on encouraging one another as fellow Christian Homeschoolers. The basic framework allows moms to interact and build relationships while their children participate in sports, field trips, and other activities with their friends. JUBILEE provides a platform where people can socialize and interact with each other in a casual atmosphere and gives people the flexibility to do that in a variety of ways.

In 1997,The JUBILEE Support Group was started by a group of Christian families who home educated their
children before the concept of home education was embraced by many in the community. The purpose of JUBILEE
was to gather their home educated children together for group physical education/sports and fellowship. In 2017, a
new non-profit corporation formed under the name of JUBILEE Christian Homeschool Families, continuing the
mission of being an exclusively Christian home educators’ support group.

We primarily meet weekly on Thursday mornings at Crossroads Church in Forest Lake. Some of our sports activities meet outdoors at a nearby park. Some activities, such as Family Night and Celebration Night, are on Friday evenings. Our mom’s support meetings are once a month on Tuesday evenings. Additionally, some families plan field trips or get togethers outside the usual Thursday mornings. We encourage families to get involved with these extra activities, but they are optional.

Members are required to volunteer a certain amount each semester. There are a variety of ways that the moms (or dads) contribute to help the group run smoothly, some are required, while others are not. This can include doing clean up afterward, organizing activities like field trips, yearbook, hosting mom's nights, leading a sport session, being a helper/behavior monitor during sports, etc. Some are able to help out more than others, everyone is able, equipped, and expected to contribute to the group.

Typically, the more you invest yourself in a group the more you will get out of it. Families are encouraged to do more than the minimum required. If you see a need please respond and help out!

No. Parents are expected to stay at activities. If your children are at JUBILEE, you need to also be present. Parents are encouraged to develop friendships and find support from other homeschool parents while their children are participating in activities with other children. If you are unable to bring your children for some reason, you may find someone outside the group to bring them and take responsibility for them that day. This person can not be another member of the group.

Some are taught by a hired coach, and some are taught by volunteer parents in the group. Since the group can be large, some of the sports also depend on parent helpers to assist the coach. The cost for the sports is already figured into your registration and semester fees.

The sports offered changes slightly year to year. We frequently offer soccer, floor hockey, basketball, gym games, volleyball, indoor track n’ field, and softball. Some years flag football, volleyball or another sport is offered. It varies slightly year to year. These are not competitive level sports, but at a level that keeps it fun for kids of all ability levels to participate and have fun together. The basic rules and skills needed to play the game are taught, and then kids play the sports. Similar to phy-ed type classes. The main focus is on building relationships with one another. Kids do not need to have any prior knowledge of the sports to participate.  Keep in mind, JUBILEE is not meant to be about sports.  Our goal is to provide an environment where kids, as well as parents, can interact and socialize with each other.  Having some sports offered is just one of the ways this can be accomplished.

JUBILEE limits each hourly session at 25 kids. This generally comes out to around 30 families.  Having a smaller group makes it easier to get to know other families!
