General FAQs

Q:

I'm interested in maybe joining Ezra.  Can you tell me more about your day and what's expected?

A:

A *brief* rundown is as follows:

We start with everyone in the gym at 8:45a.  We have announcements, group prayer and everyone lines up with their 1st block class.  We dismiss to the classrooms at 9:00a, teachers and assistants walking the students to their classes.  After 1st block, the teacher and assistant walk the students to their 2nd block classes.  After 2nd block, teachers and assistants walk the students to the gym where they meet with their family to have a picnic lunch.  The same line-up and walking to/from classes happens again for 3rd and 4th block.  Once everyone is back in the gym after block 4, each family moves on to their cleaning assignment (usually 10 minutes or less) and then we all go home.

Our *basic* rules are:
- Mom must stay on campus when her children are present.  This is not a drop-off
- Mom must work for 2 of the blocks each co-op.  Either she teaches or helps in a classroom
- We have a screen-free campus.  The goal of Ezra is as much about adult fellowship as it is student fellowship and so we want all the adults to engage with the others in our group.  You may make calls at lunchtime if needed.
- Most of our classes have no homework.  This is an ENRICHMENT co-op.  Students come and enjoy learning for one day and then they go home.  IF there is homework involved, that will be stated clearly on the class description.
- Your attendance is vital.  When one adult calls out, it creates a domino effect in trying to cover for that class.  When you join Ezra, you are making a committment.  IF you absolutely must miss a scheduled day, we would LOVE it if you are able to send Dad or Grandma or another adult to work your shift...just please let us know.
