New Harvest Christian Co-Op

FAQs

Q:

What type of co-op is New Harvest?

A:

New Harvest Christian Co-op offers a variety of academic and enrichment courses tailored to the skills and talents of our participating families, as well as the needs of our students. Our curriculum is presented from a biblical perspective. We operate as a hybrid co-op: K-8 classes are parent-led, while our high school classes are a mix of paid and unpaid classes.

Q:

Where are you located?

A:

Our co-op meets at New Life Church Kempsville, located on Thompkins Road just off I-64, near the intersection of Indian River Road and Kempsville Road.

Q:

What days does your co-op meet?

A:

We meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays. On Tuesdays, we primarily offer classes for middle and high school students and optional paid enrichment classes for elementary students. Thursdays are dedicated to all grade levels. Classes begin at 9:00 a.m.

Q:

Am I required to stay with my child?

A:

For elementary (K-5) students, once your child is in a class under teacher supervision and your role is complete, you do not need to stay on campus. For middle and high school students, you may drop them off and pick them up when their classes are finished.

Q:

Do I have to teach a class?

A:

New Harvest exists because like-minded families come together to invest in our kids. To operate successfully, each family must contribute by taking on a role. While teaching a class is one option, there are various other roles as well, with priority given to filling teaching positions. It is truly inspiring to see God work through our parents to make a difference in all our students' lives.

Q:

What are the fees associated with New Harvest Christian Co-op?

A:

As of 2024, New Harvest's fees are as follows:

  • Registration (per family) is a non-refundable $75.00 fee due upon your agreement and commitment to participate in the upcoming school year.

  • A one-time background check fee is $25. This will pay for a background check to be completed for the parent(s) and teachers that are actively participating in co-op each week. A family will not be able to participate in New Harvest without the proper background check being completed.

  • Building fee: $250 per family for one student and $300 per family for two or more students. Fees can be separated into two payments paid in September and January.
