FAQs

Q:

Where does Logos Co-Op meet?

A:

Owensville Baptist Church

Q:

What day of the week does Logos Co-Op meet?

A:

We meet on Tuesdays from 8:30 a.m. until about 3 p.m., classes end at 2:35 p.m.

Q:

Does it cost money?

A:

Yes it does. Each class costs a few dollars a semester per child. We do this so that the teachers have some funds to buy extra supplies for their classes.  We also donate $50/semester per family to our borrowed facility. This is a “thank you” from us to them and to also help them recuperate the cost of our group using their utilities, cleaning staff, etc.

Q:

Are books included?

A:

No they are not. We provide a curriculum list in advance with ample time to receive your materials before co-op starts.  The list goes out in July, usually.

Q:

Do we wear uniforms?

A:

Yes we do! We wear tan/khaki shorts/skirts/pants with a navy blue polo shirt. We do this so our members are easily identified by our group and other church staff on site.

Q:

Is there a lunch break and recess?

A:

Yes! We have lunch and recess time for about an hour in the middle of the day. Each child and parent are responsible to bring their own lunch. The facility we meet at has a large playground area.

Q:

Do parents need to be involved and present on co-op day?

A:

Yes, please! Parents need to be involved for the group to work effectively.  We need parents to be teachers, assistant teachers, and nursery helpers.

Q:

Do parents get a say in their teaching/assistant duties?

A:

Absolutely. We have a questionnaire that’s filled out every year by the attending parent that lets us know your favorite and least favorite subjects to help with.

Q:

Is there a nursery area for the younger siblings to attend as well?

A:

Yes there is. We have a nursery room and also a dedicated nap room for those that need it.

Q:

How long is the school year?

A:

We meet from August through April/Early May with a generous holiday break for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years.

Q:

Do we ever go on field trips?

A:

Yes. At the beginning of the year the whole group of committed parents meet up to discuss the upcoming year, one of those topics being field trips. We try to do one field trip per month during the months that co-op is “in session”.  We try to get as much input from the families so that we go on adventures that all the children will enjoy.

Q:

What classes are taught at co-op?

A:

Typically, we have writing, science, and history available every year. Aside from that, we try to do a few interest based classes as well like art, music, sign language, cooking, first aid, car mechanics, etc.  We usually do not do language/phonics or math class. This means that those two subjects will need to be planned and taught at home. But good news! The other co-op classes are planned by whoever is teaching that subject and it’s a huge planning relief!

Q:

How do I get in contact with someone for more information or to sign up?

A:

Our email address is: logosclassicalchristiancoop@gmail.com or message us on our Facebook page to get a contact number for one of our steering committee members.  www.Facebook.com/LOGOSchristianCOopAR
