FAQs

Q:

When does this homeschool co-op meet?

A:

We meet once a week, on Tuesdays, starting at the end of August. We take a Winter Break, starting before Thanksgiving, and then resume at the end of January, completing the school year at the end of April. Currently, we offer four, 50-minute class periods, from 9a.m. to 11:50 a.m, and gather for lunch from 11:50 a.m. -12:50 p.m.

Q:

From what type of worldview do you teach?

A:

This is a Christian co-op with a Christian worldview. Our group is comprised of different denominations, but we share the
same core beliefs. (See statement of faith in our Handbook)

Q:

How much does it cost to attend your co-op?

A:

Our co-op is considered low-cost. We have a facility fee of $50 per family, a regisration fee of $30 per student up to four children within a family (the 5 child and up is not charged this fee), and then there is a supply fee per class which ranges from about $5 to $60 depending on the class.

Q:

Can a student come without a parent?

A:

Only high school students, with approval by the Board, can come to co-op without a parent. There still needs to be a designated parent present at co-op to look after them. Special considerations and arrangements are made and agreed on with the Board. All other students can not come without a parent.

Parents stay at co-op and help in some way (as teachers, assistants, or other jobs). This is not a drop-off program. (See family covenant in the Handbook)

Q:

How many students are in each class?

A:

There are 8-18 students per class. Younger groups have the fewest students in a classroom (8). The
High School has up to 18 students. Currently, the max number of total students we can allow is 72.

Q:

What grades are included in your co-op?

A:

We offer classes for all grades K-12 as well as a pre-k/nursery. Currently, we include two grades per class/color group.

Q:

Do we allow volunteers from the community to teach classes?

A:

Yes, in fact we encourage it! We seek out other Christians in our community who have a passion to teach and want to support us in our mission; Our volunteers go through the application process on our website, are approved by the Board, and pass a background check. We love welcoming volunteers from the Christian Community to teach classes and support what we do here at HSCH co-op.

Q:

I have some questions, and I'd like to talk to someone. Who should I chat with?

A:

Please send us an email at hotspringschristianhomeschool@gmail.com. Include your name, contact info, best time to contact you, and a few or all of your questions, so we can know who the right person is to contact you.

Q:

Do we allow visitors to come to co-op?

A:

Yes, we do allow and actually require potential members to visit us in order to get to know us, us to get to know them, and to see if co-op is a good fit. Prior to visiting, a potential member must first request to "join through the website." HERE  We will contact you after that and set up a day for you to visit.

For safety reasons, all visitations to co-op must be scheduled with the director.

If you are already a member and would like a family member or friend to visit, please contact the director at least a week prior. All adults (over the age of 18) participating at co-op are required to have a background check.
