Q: |
How do I start homeschooling in Kentucky? |
A: |
In Kentucky you send a letter of intent, also called a letter of notification, to the Superintendent of your school district. In your letter you must include the name and age of your child(ren), and your home address. You can find a sample letter here: http://chek.org/KY_Laws_&_Forms |
Q: |
What is the best Curriculum to use? |
A: |
This is a difficult question to answer. There are a lot of amazing curriculum options available to homeschool families. We recommend researching your homeschool style before purchasing curriculum. Don't forget to use placement tests! |
Q: |
What am I required to teach? |
A: |
We strongly recommend viewing the Kentucky requirements here: https://hslda.org/legal/kentucky The rule of thumb is to teach the subjects taught in public schools. Keeping attendance records and report cards in a portfolio are also required and outlined in the link above. |

What does it cost to join MC Homeschool? |
A: |
This website was created for MC Homeschool Co-op, so only co-op participants can join. We hold a registration for Fall and Spring Semesters that are open to all local homeschoolers. Those that register and pay the fee to participate that semester are able to join the website. We maintain a private side to the website for Co-op communication and co-op specific events. Our Field Trips and public events are posted to the public side of our calendar and accessible to you without joining the website. |
