Carrie Alley To All Instructors

Carrie Alley was born and raised in the country on a raspberry farm in rural Wisconsin, where she spent most summer days exploring nature outside. She earned a bachelor of science degree in Premed with an emphasis in Biology from Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC in 1997.  In addition to being immersed in the sciences, Carrie worked as a seamstress in the costume room, sewing for the many Shakespeare Plays and Operas the Univeristy put on. At Bob Jones, she met her future husband, Josh, who also was studying Premed, and they were married in 1999. After moving around from Virginia, to San Antonio, to New York State, they settled in Lynchburg in 2015. Dr. And Mrs. Alley have five children aging from married (as of 8/3/24) to college to high school to kindergarten age! The youngest is West, who has Down syndrome and whose hugs are magical and melt your heart. Carrie is a lifelong learner. In addition to homeschooling four of her own five children, she has taught a variety of levels in diverse contexts including a local Christian Homeschool co-op and Challenge A & III levels in Classical Conversations. These opportunites have allowed her to teach and tutor students in Algebra 2, PreCal, Chemistry, Biology, and General Science. Mrs. Alley and her family attend All Saints Parish, where she sings classical sacred arrangments with four other way more talented musicians. When Mrs. Alley is not preparing music selections, lesson plans, or snuggling West, she enjoys cooking, baking, decorating, flower arranging and crossfit with her family. She also really loves coffee, and shamefully admits that the baristas at Starbucks know her by name.
