We are so glad your family is considering applying to Shanan Co-op for the upcoming school year!


 

Below is the New Family Application Checklist. Please take a moment to read over our application requirements. All checklist items must be submitted for your application to be complete. Registration for New Family Applications will close on _____ 2025. Once you have submitted a complete application, the board will consider your family for admission. You will be notified via email if your family has been accepted to Shanan Co-op for the upcoming school year. If you have questions please reach out to our New Family Coordinator at shanan.newfamily@gmail.com 

The board will consider New Family Applications submitted after the date above, depending on the space availability within the co-op. 

*Note: please make sure to save the Username and Password you enter below as you will need them to log in if your application is approved and your family accepted.

New Family Application Checklist:

In order for your application to be complete and considered for priority registration, please submit the following by Friday, ____2025 at 10pm.

If items are mailed, they must be postmarked by March 15th to be considered on time.

1. Read the Shanan Co-op Handbook in its entirety and be in compliance with it.

The documents requiring signatures found at the end of the handbook are integrated into the online process below.

2. Complete the Shanan Membership Application and sign the Shanan Co-op Documents which are linked within.  (After you submit the application, there will be a section with additional questions and two additional forms.)

3. Submit New Family-Parents' Testimony.

This document needs to be printed out in order for both the mother and father to hand write their personal testimonies. Parent Testimony documents can be submitted by emailing the New Family Coordinator a picture of the document or mailed to the address below.

4. Print, sign, and submit a copy of this Signature Form via email to: shanan.newfamily@gmail.com

This form can also be mailed if you are paying registration fees by check. See details below. 

5. Submit full payment of Application Fees.

Yearly Fees include a $200 family registration fee, $45 per primary student (birth-5th grade), $95 per middle school/high school student (MSHS). There is also a required end-of-summer camp/retreat fee which is $70 for 1-day Middle School and $100 for 2-day High School. 

Our treasurer will send an invoice for your Application Fees via email, along with payment instructions.

Note: Additional class fees will be determined over the summer and payment will be required at orientation in August. These fees range from $10-$250, depending on the class. Families are responsible for purchasing textbooks or curricula as requested by the teacher. Estimated class fees can be found in the class descriptions, but are subject to change until they are finalized over the summer.

6. Visit Shanan Co-op and/or meet with the board.

Applicants must visit during a co-op day or meet with the board during the current school year to be considered for admission. If you haven't had a chance to visit, please reach out to shanan.newfamily@gmail.com to schedule a time. You may submit an application before a scheduled visit. 

Additional information: 

Please know that if an invitation is extended to your family to become a part of Shanan Co-op, you will be required to complete and pass? a background check. 

Admittance to Shanan is NOT determined by the order in which we receive your application, BUT once new families are admitted to Shanan we will fill classes based on the online application order.  

Once a family is registered for the year, they will be expected to stay in co-op for the entire school year. Fees will not be refunded after acceptance of the application. If a family withdraws after the registration deadline, they will be ineligible to participate in co-op for two full years. (Exceptions will be made on a case-by-case basis with Board approval).

RELEASE OF LIABILITY

Please read and sign the Release of Liability located at the top of this family profile for returning families or located on the page after you fill out the application form for new families.


After reading the document, you must agree to this Release of Liability.

Payment Instructions

Thank you for your interest in Shanan Co-op, but your application is NOT yet complete.

At the bottom of this page, there are links to the final forms that are required for your application to be complete. You will need to click on each link, read them, fill them out, and submit them. Once you finish with the "Thank You For Applying" link you are finished with the application.

The administrator has been notified that you requested membership. You will not be able to log into the website until they approve your membership request. You will be notified via email when you can log into HSL. Make sure to save the Username and Password you just created because you will need them to log into HSL if you are approved for membership.

The Shanan board will be reviewing applications in the upcoming weeks. Our New Family Coordinator will reach out with details if we accept your Application to Shanan Co-op for the coming year. You will also be notified if we are unable to accept your family at this time.

You may want to review all the steps from the join process to be sure you completed all of the steps, including filling out the application, signing up for classes, and reading the handbook.

The below Shanan Forms and payment are to be postmarked by March 15, 2024, to Shanan Co-op c/o Loni Penner at 544 Ridgestone Dr. Franklin, TN 37064.

  1. Parent Testimony Handwritten Form  This form can be emailed to shanan.newfamily@gmail.com by taking a clear and readable picture or mailed with the signature Form linked below.

  2. Signature Form to print, sign, and email to shanan.newfamily@gmail.com.  

  3. Our treasurer will send you an invoice for your Application Fees via email. Full Payment of Application Fees is due by March ____ . However, payment will be returned/refunded if your family’s application is not accepted for this year.  

Note: Admittance to Shanan is NOT determined by the order in which we receive your application, BUT once new families are admitted to Shanan we will fill classes based on the online application order. While there are fees associated with application/registration and camp, additional fees per class will be determined over the summer and payment will be required at orientation in August.
