Expectations & Requirements
Q: |
Are parents required to be involved? |
A: |
Yes. Each family is assigned between 2-3 times per semester to clean the classrooms at the end of the day. In addition, each family is required to fulfill another responsibility such as: help in the classroom, organize field trips, Co-op gathering, organize classroom meals, Field day, etc. |
Q: |
Can I bring my younger children when I have to serve? |
A: |
Yes! Younger siblings are welcome to come with parents to help and “hang” out for the day if parents feel they can fulfill their daily responsibilities with their young ones along. |
Q: |
What if I cannot commit to my assigned time to serve? |
A: |
What if I cannot commit to my assigned time to serve? We have an option in which families pay an opt out fee per semester, that allows them to be released from these responsibilities. If NO opt-out-fee was paid at the start of the semester and you miss your days in which you are required to serve, an additional charge will be added to your account. |
Q: |
Can I change my assigned day for helping? |
A: |
Parents are responsible to reach out to other families to trade days with them. Once the change has been made, parents are responsible to let our Parent Helper Coordinator know about the change. |
Q: |
What are the behavior expectations for students? |
A: |
Please refer to our Discipline guideline. |
Q: |
Do I need to have a High School diploma or GED to homeschool my children and participate in KHS? |
A: |
Yes! Families are required to comply with PA Homeschool Law which requires the submission of Affidavit and Objectives, plus an end-of-the-year evaluation. |
Q: |
Do I need to have my own evaluator? |
A: |
Yes. All families are required and responsible to have an evaluator and submit required paperwork to their school district. |
Q: |
This is my first time homeschooling, what is required of me by the state? |
A: |
Each family is required to submit a yearly Affidavit and Objectives before they start homeschooling to their School Districts. Use the following link to inform yourself of what is required. PA Homeschool Info |
Q: |
Do you take attendance? |
A: |
No. Attendance is solely the parent’s responsibility. |
Finances
Q: |
Can I get a refund if I withdraw or change my membership? |
A: |
Unfortunately, since we are a small Co-op we count and budget on every dollar amount committed when the financial commitment form is signed at the beginning of the year, we are unable to provide refunds. We will consider strenuous financial situations on a case by case basis.
