About Us

Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.

Colossians 2:6-7

WHO WE ARE

We are a Christ-centered homeschool support group with a Biblical worldview established to serve Oakwood Community Church homeschool families, as well as homeschooling families in the surrounding Waconia area. We operate as an independent homeschool support group.  We are not a ministry of Oakwood Church.  We are not a school.

WHAT WE OFFER

We offer opportunities for homeschool families to make connections and fellowship together through mom’s support times, field trips, events, activities, and weekly core and enrichment classes (classes meet on Wednesdays from 9-2).

OUR PURPOSE

We desire to equip homeschool families with support, encouragement, community, core classes, and enrichment classes that will help them to become experts in their role as Christ-centered home educators.

Our common goal is to raise children to become Godly adults who are prepared for their own calling from God.

STATEMENT OF FAITH

We abide by and require our members to sign our statement of faith, which aligns with Oakwood’s statement of faith.   Click HERE to read our statement of faith. We do require members and tutors to agree to and sign this statement of faith.

MOM’S SUPPORT

Monthly opportunities for moms to fellowship, have fun, and share ideas.

FIELD TRIPS and EVENTS

Various field trips and events are planned throughout the year and are made available to all members.  We hope that these opportunities provide time for our families to fellowship and make connections.

CORE and ENRICHMENT CLASSES ~ (Classes meet on Wednesdays from 9-2)

Group members are eligible to register for classes taught by independent tutors, hosted at Oakwood Community Church on Wednesdays.  Classes and times vary.  All information about the classes can be found on our website (Click HERE). *Click on the title of the class for a drop-down box which includes a detailed description, tuition, and tutor information.

You must be an approved member of Rooted Homeschool Network to register for classes. Once your membership request has been approved, you will receive detailed information about registration.

Tutors: Our tutors are independent tutors who offer weekly drop-off classes taught with a Biblical worldview. The tutors have the right to decide on student count, classroom management, cost, curriculum, the format of the class, and communication with parents.  The purpose of the classroom opportunities is to provide excellent teaching with a Christian worldview while fostering friendships in a safe environment.

**Please note: Our tutors are not equipped in their classrooms to handle students who need extra attention due to learning issues or behavior issues.  Please communicate directly with the tutor if you have concerns. The tutor has the authority and obligation to make that decision and will manage his/her own classroom behavior policy, as well as refund policy.  Please see our group page about policies and discipline, however, the tutors will also have their own classroom management plans in place.

Class Registration Process: Our registration process will be tiered. Current members will register before new family registration begins.

Classes are full-year classes, however, you will only register once.  If you register for a Fall semester class, but you decide that you do not want to continue in a class for the Spring semester, you will simply cancel your student from the class before the Spring semester tuition is due.

Tuition:  The cost per class is listed on the class description and is listed as per semester.  The tutor will send individual invoices for the Fall semester on June 1st with a due date of June 30th.   For Spring semester classes, the tutor will send individual invoices on November 1st with a due date of November 30th.

Policies/Guidelines: All members are required to read and agree with our policies and guidelines.  Click HERE for more details.

Drop-Off Process: Our classes function as drop-off only.  We do not have a common area for parents or siblings.  Parents cannot stay on-site during class time.  Parents can walk their students into class and pick them up from their classrooms, however, we simply do not have the space to allow parents to remain on-site.  This is a condition of our facility usage contract with Oakwood.

2024/25 School Year Schedule: We will meet for classes every Wednesday beginning Septemeber 4th 2024 with several breaks throughout the school year.  Our Class Days and No Class Days will be listed on our secure calendar.

  • *Sept 4-First day of class
  • Oct 16-Fall Break/MEA
  • Nov 27-Thanksgiving Break
  • Dec 18-Last day of 1st semester
  • Jan 8-First day 2nd semester
  • February 19-Winter break
  • April 2-Spring Break
  • April 30-Last day of class

Homework: The homework commitment for each class varies.  See the class description for details.  Typically, the elementary grades will have options or suggested homework.  You are still your child's primary teacher, so you decide what, how, and when their work is completed.  You can adjust as needed.  For the middle school levels, more homework will be assigned, but again, it will be up to you as the primary homeschool teacher to decide how you want your student to complete the homework while keeping open communication with the tutor.  Because high school credits have more significance and will ultimately be added to a transcript, homework loads for the high school classes will be heavier and expectations for completion will be higher.

Grades: Grading is done by the tutor depending on the class.  Upper elementary and above might have graded assignments and quizzes. Ultimately, you, as the primary homeschool teacher make the final decision on your student's grade.

REGISTRATION / JOIN

For families interested in joining Rooted Homeschool Network, please complete the registration form by clicking on "JOIN" on the homepage.

  • The annual membership fee is $60 per family.
  • This fee is invoiced to you upon membership approval and is non-refundable
  • This payment is due by May 15th

Once your request has been submitted, someone from our admin team will contact you through email or phone for a quick family interview.  We use this interview time to make sure our group is the right fit for you before we approve your membership, which then requires us to charge you the $60 admin fee.

Please keep in mind that a family interview does not guarantee approval for membership and approval for membership does not guarantee a spot in a class (other factors are considered).  During your family interview, you will have the opportunity to talk with an Admin to determine if Rooted is the right fit for your family.  You will not be able to log in until we approve your membership request.
