Mrs. Deb Olson To All Instructors

Hello!  My name is Mrs. Debra Olson, and I’m very excited to be a part of the new homeschool organization, RISE UP!  
I was born in Fargo, ND and moved to Mora, MN when I was 7.  After high school, I went to Concordia College in Moorhead, MN to get my degree in Elementary Education. I have a Minnesota teaching license for grades K-6.  I taught 4th grade in Petersburgh, Virginia for 4 years. In September of 1999,  I started  my 24 years of teaching various classes, including Kindergarten, at H.E.R.O. homeschool organization.  I live in Brooklyn Park, MN with my husband and cat.
I am a Christian, a teacher, a phonics tutor, a wife of 39 years, and a mother of a 33-year-old daughter and a 30-year-old son.  My favorite things are coffee,  tulips, pancakes, chocolate, hummingbirds,  the color purple, word searches, devotional books, road trips, cats, dogs, Autumn, reading, naps, country music, the Bible, writing lists, collecting coffee cups and refrigerator magnets. 
I believe children should have a learning environment that is fun, safe, loving, and friendly so that each child’s needs are met and they feel encouraged to achieve their full potential.
I’m looking forward to a year of  new beginnings, learning, and growing.
