WCCHE Membership is currently accepting new members.

To apply for membership with Waukesha County Christian Home Educators (WCCHE), click on "Join" at the top right of your screen. Please note that WCCHE only accepts new membership from families filing the DPI-1206 form, Homeschool Parent Alumni (meaning you have graduated your children from homeschooling while filing the PI-1206 - we value your homeschooling wisdom!), and those families whose children are all not eligible for have the form filed due to their ages (meaning all of your children are younger than age 6).  We may ask for a copy of your PI-1206 to verify your homeschooling status. 

Families using ONLY a Wisconsin Public School (this includes Virtual Charter Schools like Bridges Virtual Academy) or a Private School for their children are NOT eligible for membership with Waukesha County Christian Home Educators (WCCHE).

For Businesses: 

If you are wanting to join only to advertise an event, classes, products, etc. that you think might be of interest to homeschoolers, we request instead of requesting membership that you simply email us all the details for your event/class/product and we will get it posted on the forum as well as listing you in our resource area (if applicable). Who is a homeschooler in Wisconsin?

Definition of a Home-Based Private Educational Program – WI statute 115.001(3g)

“‘Home-based private educational program’ means a program of educational instruction provided to a child by the child’s parent or guardian or by a person designated by the parent or guardian. An instructional program provided to more than one family unit does not constitute a home-based private educational program.” (WI stat 115.001(3g))

A Home-Based Private Educational Program (Homeschool) reports their enrollment numbers annually to the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) via eForm PI-1206 (Wisconsin Dept. of Public Instruction). Please note that the State of Wisconsin defines Virtual/Charter schools as public schools, and all children enrolled in them are considered public school students even though they may receive instruction at home. Students enrolled in any Virtual Charter school are not included on PI-1206 forms and are not considered to be homeschooled in Wisconsin.

The State of Wisconsin defines the various Virtual Charter schools in Wisconsin as public schools (including VC schools like Bridges or Rural Virtual Academy), and all children enrolled in them are considered public school students even though they may receive instruction at home. Students enrolled in any Virtual Charter School are not included on the PI-1206 forms and are not considered to be homeschooled in Wisconsin.  Having your child enrolled in a WI-Based Private School (whether in-person, an "at home" program, or a combination of them) is also not homeschooling - even if it looks an awful lot like homeschooling (they will even tell you that on their school websites).

Please note that the above is in no way meant to be a “judgment” on families who utilize brick-and-mortar, Virtual Charter Schools for their children, or WI-Based Private School programs. In fact, WCCHE respects the right of the parents in each family unit to choose whatever they deem to be an appropriate educational program for each of their children. Public schools have always been separate and different from homeschooling and that is okay! Wisconsin Parents Association (WPA) and Homeschool Legal Defense Association (HSLDA), both strongly recommend homeschool associations insure public/taxpayer funds are not used within private homeschool groups. Our membership policy is simply meant to protect private homeschoolers from possible government intrusion that may occur when taxpayer funds are used for private homeschool activities.
