HERE Family Membership Guidelines (Updated August 2022) 

I agree to the Membership Guidelines in consideration for membership. By joining the Home Educators Recreation and Enrichment (HERE) Group and paying my HERE annual dues, I agree to abide by the following guidelines while involved with any and all HERE Group activities, whether in person or online. 

I agree to support the HERE Group mission to assist families in their pursuit to home educate their children by providing enrichment and recreation opportunities to their homeschooled students. I understand that each member family must support the ministry of the HERE Group by volunteering to help with events and activities sponsored by the group.  Participation is the lifeblood of a parent run group, and so member families will need to lead and participate in events and activities.  

I understand that participation in HERE is NOT a drop-off service and that the parents are to be present and take a discipling role with their children. Every child participating at a HERE event must have a designated, responsible adult to oversee the safety and behavior of their child. Each participating minor must have a current HERE Family Membership Guidelines and/or HERE Minor Liability Waiver acknowledged or signed by their parent/guardian before the event.  Wherever we meet, we will leave the property the same, if not better, than we found it. We will always conduct ourselves in a respectful manner toward each other, and to all those with whom we come in contact while at any HERE event. 

I understand that the HERE Group believes that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female, and that these two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God. HERE Group believes that God created marriage to be exclusively the union of one man and one woman, and that intimate sexual activity is to occur exclusively within that union. 

As a group, we want to be loving to all, and do not want to make any group or individual feel not accepted; however, we also realize that not all groups are for all people. As a Christian group, we are choosing to raise our children with our specific Christian faith traditions and beliefs. This group is to support those endeavors, and in doing so we realize our group will not be a good fit for everyone. We are open to members who do not hold our same faith beliefs, though our board members must sign the HERE Statement of Faith. We do ask that all members respect our core membership beliefs and do not knowingly act in a way that is in antithesis to these Christian beliefs while involved with any and all HERE Group activities, whether in person or online. 

By attending a HERE educational or social activity, I acknowledge the contagious nature of COVID-19 and voluntarily assume the risk that my family and I may be exposed to or infected by COVID-19. I also acknowledge that the risk of becoming exposed to or infected by COVID-19 may result from the actions, omissions, or negligence of ourselves and/or others, including, but not limited to, event venue employees, HERE board members, HERE group members, participants and their families. I agree to assume all the foregoing risks, waive liability against HERE and any other associated parties, and accept sole responsibility for any illness, injury, disability, or death to my family or me, including all claims that may arise resulting from any of these. 

I understand that my information will be included in HERE’s member roster. Roster information will be made available as necessary to facilitate activities for the group. It should not be used for anything else (i.e. home party invites, home business mail lists, etc.). I also understand that photos of myself and/or my family may appear online, but only in areas viewable solely by other HERE members. 

Membership may be revoked by vote of the Board for valid causes including, but not limited to: 

A. Conduct that brings dishonor to HERE and any acts that contradict the above guidelines. 

B. Conduct that is abusive, disruptive, or divisive to the group as a whole or to those in attendance at HERE events. 

Conflict Resolution - In the case of personal conflict, I will seek to resolve the conflict in a mature and loving manner, seeking to see the other person’s point of view. I may discuss the issue with the Board of Directors of HERE for the purpose of seeking counsel, but I should limit all other discussion to only my spouse and the person(s) directly involved in the conflict. My goal is to resolve the conflict, not “win” or have the other person leave the group. If there is a cause for concern, I understand that it is desired that I bring the matter to the HERE Board for purpose of review to determine if further action is needed.
