Curiosity. Critical Thinking. Character.

“True education awakens the soul to the beauty of the world and the joy of discovery.” -Charlotte Mason

As a Charlotte Mason inspired co-op, Buttercup Hill offers a rich, community-driven educational experience that emphasizes narration, nature study, living books, and the cultivation of good habits, all woven into a gentle yet intellectually stimulating environment. We believe that cultivating the habits of diligence, attention, and reflection plays a crucial role in a child's development.

In our co-op, families come together to share the load of teaching, foster social connections, and bring this philosophy to life in a collaborative way. The atmosphere is warm and intentional, fostering a love for knowledge and beauty rather than rote memorization or competitive pressure. We strive to establish a gentle, joyful rhythm that celebrates education as a way of life.

Our co-op was organized in January 2015 to supplement the homeschool experience with academic and enrichment classes and solid social interactions. Buttercup Hill offers academic classes, weekly hikes, field trips, Shakespeare club, Spanish club, yearbook club, Moms in Prayer, and monthly dances.

Our program is not intended to replace your homeschool curriculum. It is your responsibility to determine whether the content of a BCH class is adequate to meet your core curriculum criteria or whether it is a class that will be taken for enrichment. We offer high school classes, but we are not accredited to establish high school credit hours. The accounting of credits and tracking high school hours is the responsibility of the family.
In general, co-op meets on Tuesdays from August to May. The school year consists of 34 weeks in two semesters. The daily schedule consists of six 55 minute class periods with a 30 minute lunch.

The yearly calendar includes class and session dates, and a variety of other important dates. Through out the year, field trips, family fun activities, and other events are added to the calendar on a regular basis. Payment due dates as well as all activities and other deadlines are posted in the BCH weekly newsletter and on the news and announcements section of the webpage.
