Buttercup Hill Mission and Purpose

Mission

Our Charlotte Mason Homeschool Co-op is committed to fostering a vibrant community where children flourish in wisdom, character, and wonder through a living education deeply rooted in nature. Guided by Charlotte Mason’s philosophy, we immerse students in the beauty of the natural world, using it as a foundation for exploration, discovery, and growth. We strive to inspire a lifelong love for learning, a reverence for creation, and an appreciation for truth, goodness, and beauty through rich ideas, meaningful connections, and hands-on engagement with the outdoors.

Purpose

The purpose of our co-op is to partner with families in providing a nature-centered education inspired by Charlotte Mason’s principles. We aim to:

  • Integrate “living books,” narration, and discussion with extensive outdoor experiences, sparking curiosity and a deep bond with the natural world.
  • Cultivate strong habits, moral character, and scientific inquiry through regular nature study, journaling, and observation of the seasons, plants, and creatures.
  • Enrich learning with creative pursuits like art, music, and handicrafts, often drawn from the inspiration of nature’s forms and rhythms.
  • Create a supportive community of learners—parents and children—who embrace the outdoors as a vital teacher, fostering growth in knowledge, virtue, and an enduring sense of stewardship for the earth.
