Who We Are

Buttercup Hill was organized in January 2015 to supplement the homeschool experience with academic and enrichment classes and solid social interactions. In that first year, eight families came together for classes in Literature, Natural Biology, Watercolor, and Spanish. Since then, our co-op has quickly grown to include ninety families and over two hundred students.

In 2015, the Buttercup Hill Homeschool Co-op began as a humble gathering of eight families united by a shared vision of providing their children with a living education rooted in nature, great books, and meaningful habits. Nestled in the heart of our community, the co-op embraced Charlotte Mason’s philosophy, meeting weekly to explore the outdoors, narrate from rich texts, and nurture wonder through hands-on learning. Word of this vibrant, nature-centered approach spread, drawing more families seeking an alternative to conventional education.

By 2025, the co-op had blossomed into a thriving community of 90 families, its growth fueled by a reputation for fostering deep connections—to the natural world, to timeless ideas, and among learners. What started as a small circle of like-minded parents has evolved into a dynamic, supportive network, faithfully expanding Mason’s ideals while adapting to the needs of a growing, diverse group of homeschoolers.
