Elementary Overview
Elementary Scope & Sequence
Elementary students (Nursery through 6th grade) meet on Fridays from 8:45 am-3:00pm. Students enroll in the entire day of classes, as classes for the elementary program are not offered a la carte.
Each Friday, K-6th Elementary students start their day in Chapel with songs of praise and prayer. Students then go with their class (up to 10-12 in a class) to Science, Math games, History/Social Studies, Lunch, Recess, Language Arts, and PE. (Exact order of schedule will vary).
- PreK classes follow a "Letter of the Week" style activities program which is for Enrichment, but can easily be expanded upon to be used at home.
- K-4th classes can be used as Enrichment Courses OR as part of your at-home lessons. At the elementary level, Friday classes are a wonderful and hands-on enrichment class. Students are not required to purchase the accompanying text book or follow the curriculum at home.
- Our 5th/6th class is is designed to help students have a good first impression and a smooth transition into their secondary years. We know how hard it can be for students as they move from Elementary classes to Secondary classes, so we developed this class to gently introduce the skills needed to grow academically and be prepared for the obstacles to come. We spend time helping them build organizational skills, keep track of different assignments and deadlines, and develop their time management skills. These are tools that will help them have the confidence to take on and excel at the next level.
**To have a successful year, 6th grade students are required to purchase the assigned curriculum.**
***5th graders are not required to purchase the curriculum, but it is highly recommended.*** - NOTE: 5th grade students are welcome to join the 3/4 class or the 5/6 class, depending on their interest and skill level.
We recognize that many students will be at multiple grade levels depending on the subject. When choosing a grade level, choose the level that you feel most accurately reflects your student's academic progress.
Elementary Scope & Sequence
Children in this class must be potty trained prior to enrollment.
Each class day, PreK students meet in classes of approximately 5-10 students and stay with the same teachers for the day.
Using a "Letter-of-the-Week" format with play-based learning games, hands-on activities, and plenty of read-alouds, these little ones will be introduced to letters, numbers, colors, shapes, reading the calendar, watching the weather, Bible, and story time. And of course – plenty of time for games and playing outside! The PreK class also makes time for a rest time/nap in the afternoon.

PreK-5th classes can be used as Enrichment Courses OR as part of your at-home lessons. At the elementary level, Friday classes are a wonderful and hands-on enrichment class. Students are not required to purchase the accompanying text book or follow the curriculum at home.
However, if you choose to follow the curriculum at home, we have designed our classes so your family is able study together - expanding upon the weekly unit studies started at FTK Co-op - and diving deep into Science, History, Art, Cultures & more.
Elementary Students following the FTK classes at home will need a math and language arts program specific for each child to have a full year's worth of core classes. Listed below are our recommendations which we have used and loved through the years. Please let us know if you need guidance selecting a curriculum for your child.
- Math: Take the online placement test each year for Math-U-See which is designed as a homeschool math program
- Language Arts: We are using the Institute for Excellence in Writing (IEW) literature & writing programs in our secondary classes. We recommend a level specific program for your elementary child, too.
