They have returned! The Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra is back and just as fun as ever. These educational concerts, presented free for teachers and students, will feature performances by the Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra and the Harrisburg Symphony Youth Orchestra and will be hosted by Gregory Woodbridge, HSO Associate Conductor, and Stuart Malina, HSO Music Director.
The repertoire for this concert will be chosen from Stravinsky’s ballet Petrushka. Think young people wouldn’t like Stravinsky? Don’t be too sure! This is an incredibly colorful work that utilizes the entire symphony orchestra in a dazzling array of orchestral colors and rhythms that will certainly keep the interest of young people. It’s a tale of love and jealousy through the eyes of puppets (yes, puppets) and is the perfect work to demonstrate why live orchestral music is so amazing.
Children younger than 3rd and older than 8th may attend but this interactive concert, geared towards the 3rd-8th graders, will have students dancing in their seats and singing along with the orchestra.
Note: We are limiting the number of participants for the sake of our hostess. Parking can be a challenge for these events so please plan ample time to find parking and walk to the Forum.
