Strawberry Hill’s Maple Sugaring Program introduces the process of making maple syrup - from tap to table. Students will learn the history of maple sugaring in Pennsylvania, how to identify the characteristics that distinguish different types of maple trees, how to tap, and the supplies required to process sap into maple syrup.
Unfortunately, they no longer do the pancake tasting but the program itself includes more Native American history as well as 18th and 19th century history with more live demonstrations of the maple sugaring process.
This program will be geared towards elementary and middle school students although younger older students are welcome to participate. Part of this program will be outdoors so please dress appropriately!
