We once again return this year with more drawing and lessons in varied facets of art with our local artist, Cindy Conley! For those not already familiar, Cindy has won numerous awards for her drawings including first place at the 2-day Christian Concert & Art Festival known as “Purple Door” that used to be held at the Ski Roundtop Resort, where she was competing against other artists, in multiple mediums, from all over North America (the United States and also Canada). She has taught art classes for the Carlisle Parks & Recreation and also for the East Berlin Area Community Center, along with other various small-groups.
In this lesson, Cindy will guide your child through understanding the Color Wheel, which is the basis for all things of color throughout life for all ages. This lesson will provide a wonderful foundation in your child’s life.
Note: Supplies may be purchased at such suppliers as Walmart, Amazon, any of the Dollar Stores, etc. The cost per student will vary depending on your choice of supplier and level of quality of tools (student vs professional) but should run $6-$8.
1) Kids’ Washable non-toxic paints: Crayola sells a nice product. At least basic red, blue & yellow. If prefer, may get the set rather than individual colors. 2) Palette: for mixing colors, plastic 3) Brushes: a small assortment 4) Paper: watercolor painting paper would be best. However, could likely use something like a sheet of kitchen freezer paper. Must be a type of paper that can handle moisture 5) Table covering: newspaper or something to cover the table being used 6) Something to wipe hands with as needed: paper towels or something similar 7) Warm water & soap: to clean tools when finished.
