Kick off the Easter season by learning about the Hebrew Tabernacle and how it foreshadows the death and resurrection of Jesus!
Join the Hebrew people on their journey with God by experiencing a full-scale reproduction of the tabernacle in the wilderness, as described in Hebrew Scriptures. From the eastern gate of the courtyard to the Ark of the Covenant in the Holy of Holies, our 35- to 45-minute multimedia presentation immerses you in an ancient world.
Presentation guides versed in the scriptural context and significance of the tabernacle and its furniture lead you in conversation from the Bronze Altar just inside the eastern gate of the courtyard to the Ark of the Covenant in the Holy of Holies. Even if you know little about Biblical history, this presentation is fascinating. But for those who know, this makes the story come to life.
As you look into the Holy Place, a full-size, wax figure of the high priest presides over the altar of incense. His authentic robes have precious stones embedded in gold on his breastplate. The Golden Lampstand, and Table of the Bread of the Presence are made-to-scale. A fully researched design of the veil separates the people from the presence of God just like in olden times. Many people of different religious, ethnic and cultural backgrounds find this lecture tour of the Biblical tabernacle reproduction the high point of their visit to Lancaster County.
There is also a FREE 17-minute documentary about Mennonite life and their relationship with the Lancaster Amish shown every half hour. You may arrive early at 10:15a to see the Mennonite movie or stay after the Tabernacle tour and watch the movie. The choice is yours; simply let us know at time of registration.
