Nicole Broe To All Instructors

I came to PATHS in August of 2023 as a proud parent of a 12-year-old son and a first year determined homeschool Mom. When I arrived I admittedly was winging it and depending on my faith to direct the way. Today, a year later, I'm a proud PATHS parent and I feel blessed to be the 2nd Grade Academy Instructor for the 2024-2025 School Year.

I hold a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Bemidji State University in Bemidji, Minnesota. Within my career I have worked in schools, homes, and multi-faceted agencies that supported and served families and children of diverse backgrounds and needs. My best years were when I was a Program Manager of Therapeutic Residential Services for children with developmental disabilities.  I was a part of a team that contributed and facilitated felt safety within intensive support programs. Our priority was for the children to feel safe so they could be safe.  Fostering felt safety and recognizing the impact it has on children's learning and growth is work I enjoyed then and now. It's through my 28 years of experience in human services, and my passion for person-centered planning, that I'm inspired to continue to provide the foundations and needed felt safety for students to become successful lifelong learners.

For the last 5 years, myself, my husband Kevin, my son Theodore, and our Golden Retriever Angie May have called Hampton Roads home.  We don't miss a chance however to take a road trip back to the Midwest and fill up on hotdishes and hugs!  When I'm not spending time with family, or vacuuming golden glitter, you can find me reading, journaling, exploring all elements of nature and/or attending a sporting event, cheering loud and proud, for my favorite teams. Go Tides!
