Kim Ellis To All Instructors
Kim Ellis is an author and illustrator. She was born and adopted from South Korea, then lived in Japan and various states across the U.S. as an Air Force brat. She is a graduate of the Savannah College of Art and Design, where she studied children’s book illustration.
She has published three children’s books, Butterflies for Rory, Zach’s Family, and Annyeong, Korea!, which tells the story of her adoption story from South Korea. She was voted Suffolk News Herald’s “Best Local Author” for 2021 and 2022, and was nominated for 2023.
Her homeschooling career started in 2008, and she’s had 7 kids at the Ellis Academy since then. Her kids range in age from 8 to 24.
She serves on the Suffolk Public Library’s Advisory Board, and the Genieve Shelter’s Board as their President.
Her interests include reading, gardening, stickers, going to the beach, and learning new vegan recipes. She’s also a little too obsessed with butterflies.
