Basics of Homeschooling in Iowa

This page is a brief collection of some of the resources you may want to review as you consider if homeschooling is for you or if you've already decided to Homeschool but want some direction as you get started.

We at HEED hope that as you consider home education, you will seek direction and wisdom from God through prayer and meditation. His Holy Bible is alive with wisdom to guide and direct your paths as you seek His best for your children's education.

We also know from experience that fellowship and the community of believers is our next strongest asset as Christian homeschoolers and this is why HEED exists. Not just great networking, sharing resources, and organizing play groups, but also experiencing our triumphs and trials in homeschooling together as sisters and brothers in Christ.

Another great resource is NICHE, the Network of Iowa Christian Home Educators. They have many kinds of resources, host our state's annual homeschool convention, and they provide a great website. One part of their website provides an excellent summary of Getting Started in homeschooling with tools, forms, and resources to access from there. We also recommend you consider membership in HSLDA, the Home School Legal Defense Association.
